I think it was pretty cool that Volrath, a clearly bad dude, featured on white cards. After all white is not just the colour of good - it is the colour of authority and rule of law. Volrath was all about rule of law.

This is underwhelming for lifegain... and that's saying a lot since lifegain is underwhelming to begin with.

@Baconradar Yeah white is definately not a "Good" color but it tends to represent values that many may value as good. But yeah, since he favors law and order he gets picked :).

The name doesn't really fit the effects of the card... I searched for "Contemplate" thinking there would be a card similar to Ponder or Preordain...

Another snappy 1-word card title wasted on a boring card.

nothing like 100 2/2 soul tokens to make your opponents smile!(doesn't hurt to get a hundred life or so in the process)

Considering everything you play except lands are spells. This card will gain you 1 life everytime you play anything. that's 1-5 life a turn. Based solely on mana and cards available to be played. Consider adding this Exquisite Blood with it, and sanguine bond.

You could always use it in combo with Storm cards for massive lifegain... although technically if you end up Storming, you should already win.

Contemplate, for what it is, could be playable with certain effects that trigger on lifegain, e.g. Ajani's Pridemate.
