There's exactly one "Rite of ___" in each color except white. Better yet, they have been printed in (counterclockwise) color order: Rite of Passage Rite of Flame Rite of Consumption Rite of Replication Rite of ___
You could use it with the Phantom creatures that prevent damage and remove 1/1 counters

At first I was thinking persist but that won't work, so Blight Mamba?

Using this with the Phantom creatures doesn't make a whole lot of sense, Kryptnyt. You prevent the damage, remove a counter, then add a counter. 1 - 1 + 1 = 1. If you remove the last counter, reducing the creature to a 0/0, he would die before you got to put the +1/+1 counter on it from Rite of Passage. I have a Phantom deck, and there are much better ways to abuse their ability.
I currently run this + Pestilence in my EDH deck. Very nice combo. Wipes the board, and turns your creatures into absolute monsters.
This card fits perfecly in green, the color of creatures and creature boosts, and its low and little mana-intensive casting cost makes it very playable.
Lightmine Field - kill your opponent's creatures while buffing yours.

Thrashing Wumpus, or anything else that can pump out mass damage 1 point at a time. Bonus: damages opponent's creatures. Bonus2: damages opponent. And if you can get lifelink on the Wumpus...

EDIT: Nevermind, the damage is actually prevented on Swans.
Can't wait to see the cycle completed!
