this card is really good for some reasons first how many green creatures do you see with flying
then its last ability is awesome you can distribute counters or put them in only one creature

As has been said, it's a flying green creature that doesn't even cost that much. Awesome!
Also, this has some really awesome synergy with graft.

You know what jugan is absolutely excellent for is a naya deck, its a 5/5 so it can gain all those extra 5 power abilities, it flies so it can deal with opponents who use a lot of flying creatures (blue and white typically, or dragons in red) and if it dies one of your other naya creatures becomes a 10/10. You could even spread its counters out over a couple of different creatures to boost them all. Play with mayael's aria and if you can get that one creature with a 10/10 your getting 10 life per turn and more counters. Makes your opponent pay for removing it, even if you only have one 1/1 token on the field besides the dragon. All in all pretty great for a 6 mana green card.

My second favorite from the Kamigawa dragon cycle. Its ability is always useful, and it's a solid body. 4.5/5.

THIS card was what really got me into Magic. Something about it entranced me and from then on, I have forever been marked by Magic the Gathering as one who follows/has followed it.

Doubling Season is good, but if you also use a Splinter Twin, you'll kill it and the tokens, but then get that many more 5x counters that then multiply AGAIN. Woop!

It's probably the worst of the dragon spirit cycle but that doesn't mean it is bad by any means. All those cards were amazing, especially Kokusho, the Evening Star.

Even without the excellent ability, it's an efficient 5/5 flyer for green. And the ability really is excellent...think of it as an arcbound creature that doesn't have the artifact restriction.

Great job by the artist, too. It's definitely the best looking of the cycle. Actually, i'm lying; the blue one looks cooler.

Time for a design story!

As Aaron Forsythe recounts (http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtgcom/daily/af38) the spirit dragon cycle were costed according to how 'in-color' it was for that color to have a dragon.
Red, being the dragon color, was very splashable.
Blue, while not typically associated with dragons, but with Onslaught's dragon centricness in recent memory and blue's history of big flyers, was also very splashable.
White and black get plenty of dragons when it comes down to it, so they both got off pretty well.
Green, getting about as many dragons as they do flyers of any kind, got the short end of the stick.

One of not-many green flying creature.
Its good for mono-green as its 3GGG, for multicolored decs, its a bit more complicated to play ,but still good.It has a solid body and kinda good abilities, its my favorite from dragon cycle as i got it when i was a starter.I really like this card .

Did I read "five counters" if this thing dies?
I would love to run this in a proliferate deck!!!

With Contagion Engine, things can get out of hand!!

@HairlessThoctar:

Not quite. Only the Red one was costed according to how "in-color' it was to get a dragon. The others were costed according to how 'in-color' flying is for that color.

@surewhynot - Sorry but Splinter Twin would be a bad idea on Jugan, seeing as he is Legendary.

It's a pity that Jugan falls to Wrath of God, since unlike Keiga when you cast this you need like at least two creatures alongside it.

Though I did find a wonderful use for this: I won every game when I followed Greater Good with Jugan.

@surewhynot: I'm not sure if splinter twin works. Jugan's effect only happens if it goes to the graveyard. Would the splinter twin token go to the graveyard or not? Please clarify.

@beerious Splinter Twin would work with this card, in that, when activated, both the Jugan and his Jugan Twin token would get put into the graveyard (due to the legend rule) and trigger each of their abilities. Once in the graveyard, the token ceases to exist.

With Mirror Gallery, though, you would need to have some way of killing the Jugan Twin, otherwise at the end of the turn it would exile itself and not trigger it's dies ability.

Please tell me somebody has lived the horribly evil you-are-a-very-bad-person-for-even-IMAGINING-this dream of:

5 Legendary Kamigawa Dragons +
1 kicked Rite of Replication +
2 maxed Echo Mages targeting the Rite...

and sent 35 dragons to the graveyard at once. Because you can NEVER have too much Overkill.

First person to do it PLEASE YouTube the moment.

At worst, it's a beefy flyer. In GREEN!!!!! This is actually very handy to have, especially because then, no one wants to kill it, because then you get to buff your other guys! I'm sure this would have seen more play, but it's glory was stolen by Kokusho

Captain Jugan - "The power is yours!"
Mycoloth - "Superb! I'am now five time's(counters) more awesome!".
Steel Helkite - "Whatever" *Pay's Five*
Mycoloth - "You no fun!"
Captain Jugan "It wasn't worth it"
Mycoloth - "Don't make it any worse!"

5/5 for it's uniqueness to the colour. Even if it were Planar Chaos, this card would still just feel weird...

So if you make this guy your commander, do you still get to distribute the five +1/+1 tokens if you have him go to the command zone instead of the graveyard?

Fantastic card, I love running this in my {G} Thrun, The Last Troll EDH deck. He's a beast that stops the majority of flyers and even when he does fall he can pump up other creatures...when he does fall usually Thrun sticks around and is suddenly a 9/9 with regeneration.

Pure green right here. So you just killed my flying fatty? Don't mind if I pump all my other creatures, huh?

Waaaay before I got into Magic, I found this image and saved it as a wallpaper. I simply was in love with the illustration. I had no idea it was a trading card of any sort. Fast forward years later, after I had built my first deck, which happened to be a casual Green Stompy deck, I came across this card. Imagine my joy when one of my favorite works of art ever could be effectively utilized in my first deck. Even now, I still have that deck, even though it's mostly overshadowed by all the legacy combo/aggro decks in my meta, I still get a lot of pleasure out of playing my mono green deck occasionally, even if it can't always win. It's about fun. And this card makes me have a lot of it. It gets a 5/5 from me for that reason alone.

Easily the weakest of the five Spirit Dragons, Jugan is the only one I've never had any qualms about killing. Still, a five five flier for Green isn't bad by any means. But it's most likely to be played in mono green given that cost, and Green doesn't have many other fliers to give those counters to--frankly I'd rather see them on non-fliers instead. I play a lot of removal, and I've rarely faced down Jugan for more than two turns simply because unlike the other four Spirit Dragons, his graveyard effect isn't sufficient to scrub the bullseye off his forehead.

Gorgeous art, though. It's a solid creature in its own right and a good choice for Green, but it doesn't hold up to its brothers.

Arguably the worst of the Kamigawa dragons... yet still incredibly awesome in it's own right. A 5/5 flyer in Green with a serious buff effect should it go down (especially in the colour that boasts the most creatures with trample) should never be sniffed at. This was such a great cycle.

@reishyn In my opinion I think the red Dragon in this cycle was worse, being an overcosted conditional boardwhipe effect. In the right deck this and he can be very good though.

I remember someone passing this to me in a draft and being like, Ugh, I'm not playing this color, so you'll be really happy about this. I wasn't playing the color either but I made sure I snagged that sucker. Took it and never looked back. He's one of the only 2 mono green dragons and he was my first dragon. I remember feeling so lucky to just have a dragon.
On another dickish note, my friend was sitting to my pass at that draft table and was playing green. Sorry, dude.
