Put in with Liliana's Caress and some Madness cards,
And you've got yourself some pretty B-A card advantage.

Bottomless Pit; better or worse? discuss. This is obviously better for madness, but what about another deck?

Compare to Bottomless Pit, which requires a heavier color commitment, but forces random discard.
Also compare to Cunning Lethemancer, which is this card, but on a 2/2 and the discard happens on your upkeep.

5/5 for being able to screw potentially any strategy your opponent has, for rocking out with reanimator/madness decks, and for having the most coherent comment MasterOfEtherium has EVER made on a card!

I played this versus a madness deck. Not funny to me...

It hits your opponents before it hits you, really not bad if you have some phyrexian arena type effects to negate the damage done to your hand

Great for hellbent and hellbent related cards. Blood Scrivener drew two lands last turn? No problem! Infernal Tutor sitting next to a land an a card you can't play? No problem! Facing a control deck? Eat the card disadvantage you fools! I have no cards in hand to discard!! haHA! They holding kill cards while you're topdecking creatures? GO AHEAD!
Sitting next to Hymn to Tourach, Blightning, and simlar can easily cause you both to quickly hit topdecking mode; putting the hellbent player at a tremendous advantage.
Notice that this hits the opponent first! Also a lovely bit of fun!

Next turn, you drop Geth's Grimoire. You'll still have to discard once, but after that you'll have a bit more of a choice.
