Lure or Nemesis Mask, exactly. Also give it General's Kabuto so they can't kill it and you can use it over and over.

It's much more satisfying when your opponent goes momentarily retarded and blocks with his best creature, instead of an expendable 1/1. Once the cursing stops, you can go on to the next turn, with your new creature in tow.

Ebony Horse may be useful or maybe not.

As others have already pointed out, this is great with Lure or Tempting Licid throw in a Jangling Automaton to get 'er done!

This thing is crazy.

I love Ertai's arrogance. The quotes on Tolarian Entrancer, Ertai, Wizard Adept, and the Tempest Counterspell are priceless. You gotta love Ertai! Hell, even the quote on Ertai, the Corrupted is awesome.

I Agree completely with Wyldblayde about the flavor text. Any flavor text by Ertai is great, and the expression this guy's making on the card fits it well. I have, on at least two occasions, taken over an impressive creature of my opponent's, only to smile broadly and read them the flavor text as though it were my response.

Great with Maze of Ith to save him after he gets blocked.

This is the type of card that makes me almost want to forgive Ertai for sleeping with my wife. But I still can't do it.

A 1/1 with a common ability for 1 mana has become normal, even in blue. Paying one more to upgrade it to a FRICKEN AWESOME ability seems like a good trade to me.

2 Mana for a creature that can steal opponents' creatures permanently?!
Four, please!
(Oh, and four Lure as well)

And yes, Ebony Horse and Maze of Ith help,
but only if you have a way to *force* them to block.
They'll just keep taking hits from him otherwise... which isn't the worst thing ever,
but probably not what you're after if you're playing this.

A very fun card, and one of the many reasons Weatherlight is one of my favorite sets.

Seems absolutely ridiculous at first glance, but only triggering on being blocked and not on blocking means needs a lot of support (lure effects, etc.). Otherwise its just a 2 mana 1/1 unblockable, and we all know there are better options if that is what you want.

The problem with cards like this is you have to invest a lot in making them an ungodly tool of winning destruction or they are simply ignored. Only once you've invested all that, a single removal spell ruins your day completely.

@jonrds

First of all, a single lure effect is NOT "a lot of support." Second of all, if you are using this over Invisible Stalker, you ARE using it with lure effects. Don't just call the entrancer a worse card simply because it's a lot worse without lure effects. Third of all, the entrancer doesn't always give the opponent a lot of time to respond after you put Lure on him. If your opponent is tapped out when you want to put Lure on him, then by the time your opponent gets removal, he/she will have lost most of his/her creatures.

What if the creature that is blocking tolarian entranced dies at the end of combat. Do you still gain control?
