Interesting card. Gets worse the fewer cards you have on your hand, and is obviously best in some sort of graveyard based deck. Still, it's not that awesome. After all, it's just a 1/1 for three mana, that sometimes has evasion and sometimes not, and if you have only few cards on hand, his ability doesn't help that much.

I like that red's creatures are getting useful abilities, but I'm not sure a 1/1 for three is what I would call "competitive." Compare Looter il-Kor for a similar effect, with superior evasion, and only two rather than three mana. Hopefully Wizards decides to push intimidate further as red's back-up form of evasion besides the "can't be blocked except by two or more creatures" effect that's been showing up more and more often.

I would have loved for this to be a 2/1, but I still love this combination of effects. I think its a Rummaging Goblin done right

1/1's for 3 are kinda bad, especially with good ol' Doom Blade back among us.

I'm surprised at the early low rating. This isn't that bad for Limited, it's just a bit overcosted. Still has its uses, though.

This card would be borderline limited-playable as a 2/2. As a 1/1... think I'll pass

If there were decent, power-boosting Equipment at common/uncommon rarities in M14, this might be circumstantially playable in Limited. There isn't, and it isn't.
It's bad, guys.

Really wish this had been reds answer to looter il-kor... I mean its not like it would have been broken as a 2 drop. I know reds not supposed to have the card draw blue has avaliable to it but still, it already is worse at 2 a). worse evasion and b). discard then draw is a lot worse than draw then discard. However, I do like that it is a may, so you can keep attacking even if you want to keep your last card or two. So overall I'll still happily play it as a one of in limited.
And for all the haters, rumaging goblin was one of reds most solid commons in m13, and this guy has the potential to be better (just side him out against opposing red players... or side him in against non-red players if you want to be super cautious)

This card is way too cautious! You could take away intimidate and make him a 2/2 or 3/2. You could make his ability trigger whenever he attacks, you could make him a 2/1, cost and draw a card whenever he deals damage. It's 2014 (sort of) and Red is still so freakin' one-dimensional.

Well if the intimidate is working, its somewhat playable. Otherwise its junk.

I wish he was more competitively costed, but looting while doing damage is a unique combination. I'd run him in multi-colored limited decks to increase consistency of the card draw.

Remember, red cards have to be functionally worse than similar blue cards or else they are too powerful. Right.

wasted slot for a red creature card at common. i was hoping more 1 drops in this set....
It's not THAT bad. It's better than the uber crap like that 4/2 flash for 6 mana dude from gatecrash. This is at least a non-red feeling card that is red. It's a really bad version of looter il-kor, but it's a red version. I like it personally, but it is still not very good.

From the pre-release, M14 limited seems like a very evasion-friendly set. You need things to toss your equipment and auras on. This guy is pretty low on the power side, but may be fringe playable (or sideboardable) if you need some more evasion. Still barely a 2/5, if that.

@Hunter06: Why does his p/t matter when Doom Blade's around? If anything, his stats should matter less.

It's not that good, but it's an interesting take on looters. Could be good in limited at least as a 22nd or 23rd card.

@Tiggurix: I can understand why WotC didn't give him a higher power, they want him used as a looter and not as an evasive damage source. That said, reducing his cost to two mana would have been a good move.

So I played two prereleases and this guy actually worked in my main pool. I went 4-0 and it was partially because this gave R/G agro solid card draw. He is too small for an opponent to want to use removal on it but threatening enough to work toward your favor. If your deck is agro with no card draw source, he's pretty useful if not at least sideboardable 2.5/5

Don't give this guy such a hard time. I played him at Pre-release, and I was almost always happy to see him. He helped me cycle through my deck for the answers I needed, and steadily chipped away at the opponent's life total all the while.
What I'm saying is that you're looking at him the wrong way. He's more like an enchantment that asks if you want to ditch some dead weight from your hand every turn, and pings the opponent each time you do. Then he can block a creature when he needs to.
Completely worth the cost, and he'll always be a 3rd or 4th pick for me.

C. Duh to both of the above. :P
The real comment:
they're being conservative with Red card draw.
this makes sense. Imagine if they woke up one day and said "Blue needs better creatures because the game is all about creatures" and started making even Uncommon Blues really good in limited at attacking and blocking. like a Blue Knight with protection from Green o_O Obviously they would not start out with a Blue Knight as good as White Knight, because that's asking for trouble. Blue really needs very little, even when counterspells are bad, to dominate the entire game. Good creatures would do it, because card draw is Always Blue's Domain.
right now, Red card draw is still weak-bad-sauce as a mechanic, with Faithless Looting being really great as a card.
Give them some years, they will tweak Red Card draw to where it should be. Better to do this slow than to give us an OP Red draw spell, because Draw is EXACTLY what RED wants to dominate the entire game. 1-drop spells + Card Draw Juice = GG, mate, since Green already contains cards which on average can supply you with extra mountains or extra red mana at a good rate.
RUG was the first Broken Combo: Channel-Fireball? Mostly worked because of Ancestral Recall. We have MUCH better than Fireball to win games with, all the time now. Even Shock might be better than Fireball, I'm not sure. We have much WORSE than Channel at making mana.....but Red does not really need as much mana as all that anymore. So it would be really really hard for RnD to make a mistake and print a Red Ancestral Recall, but, you know, it's because they care that they don't even give us Red Divination.
It always sucks to hear "wait for it...."
but sometimes, it's true, yo.

A red dude with intimidate who allows me to throw away my mountains and/or madness cards in return for more bolts?
Yeah, why not?
Not the best he could be, but sets a nice precedent—I expect to see more guys like like him, hopefully better priced, in the future.

have you tried it? is not that bad. it has evasion and card filter. i have been playing it and surprisingly my opponents kill him before other threats.

Works fairly well alongside sword of light and shadow or Squee, Goblin Nabob. Just attack, discard, draw, sword/squee trigger. It's a bit better then rummaging goblin imo because most red decks like to be attacking and red intimidate might as well be unblockable. Red decks typically don't really leave up blockers even when posed with the option.
I think this card is actually pretty good. Discard into draw isn't terrible really when you consider the fact that sometimes you draw cards that aren't useful at the moment or your hand may be just inadequate in general, not to mention the fact that the graveyard is highly abusable.

If you ever see off-putting orange and blue tones on a card's art, that's because someone somewhere decided orange is the most dynamic color and blue is its countertone.
It's an awful palette, but it makes boring things more exciting.

Use this guy in a jund deck that revolves around 3 drops and cheap pump and evasion. discard extra lands and cheap scavenge cards and he'll be more useful than he would seem
