That flavor. While I can't really judge how good this is, ( 7 mana for a card that requires you to tap your own creatures sounds like a hefty cost) but I can say that I really want to play this card.

Is it greedy that this is what I expect out of a 7 mana cost sorcery, especially at mythic?
Very cool flavor either way. Beautiful, drops jaws, awesome in multiplayer, doesn't instant-win but damn near fairly often.

A perfect mythic. It isn't going to have a $20+ pricetag, but it still feels epic. This just shows that being mythic doesn't mean a card has to be broken.

With Ogre Battledriver and even only a few creatures on the field, this is as good as game over.

I'd rather have Entreat the Angels, but this is potentially more devastating. Unfortunately, it's pretty expensive.

This is going in my trostani EDH. Step 1 - cast Storm herd step 2 - cast this step 3 - let your inner timmy bask in the glory of the tremendous overkill waiting to happen. step 4 - Profit! (or flip the table when someone plays day of judgement)

I guess it's a somewhat better Hellion Eruption, but it doesn't make Hellions. I guess that's a thing.

@Singe. Copying the spell won't double your angels since you would have to tap some untapped creatures.

That art is amazing. I love the design of this card. I also like that it moves away from the damn 'as an additional cost' clause which just makes counterspells even more broken.

Hilarious with "copy target instant or sorcery spell" effects, which allow you to immediately tap your angel tokens to duplicate them.

7 mana is too much for me. I want really really efficient Token making. This is a card that you cast to win the game.
For me, I want Over-over OVER kill cards, that are well-Designed in a way for me to stock up and make tons of excessive amounts of Tokens! :D This card....tells you tap out, REALLY tap out even your creatures, so it really wants to be cast right before you swing for game.
I would rather make too many tokens for a few hours than actually swing with them XD
Luminarch Ascension is too hard to pull in Kaalia of the Vast (you get beat up, lol), but I thought I saw a more middle-ground card that could still make me Angel tokens in this same set?

The problem I see with this card is that it costs a ton of mana AND requires you to have an army of creatures. But if you have an army of creatures and a ton of mana, why didn't you win yet? So it seems to be a "win more" card, that's only powerful if you are about to win anyway.
Still, it'll win a draft here or there and find its way into casual decks.

This from Chandra's new ult... EPIC! I tap 10 creatures... get 10 angels. Then tap then, get 10 more, then tap THOSE, get 10 more! +30 4/4 Angels for the low, low cost of absolutely no mana whatsoever. ... Unless I have Intruder Alarm! Ha! That's +10, +20, +30 = 60 Angels!
And other fun highjinx to combo with this as well!

I am reminded of Hellion Eruption. This costs one more, but it's also a stronger effect since the Angels have flying and you don't have to sacrifice your entire board. Even at seven, though, it's an excellent card for token decks.

You only need two creatures for it to be effective. That gives you an figurative 8/8 for 7 mana.
@Lorddeox - doesn't combo with Primeval Bounty any more than any other noncreature spell - you get to put 3 +1/+1 counters on an already present creature when you cast Devout Invocation. That's it. Hardly a good combo. ^^
Now, for things it actually combos with - as people have already mentioned, cards like Ogre Battledriver will cause a single turn OHKO with 4+ angels. Though pretty much anything that gives them haste is going to be viable.

i find this card actually quite useful. 7 seems like alot but its not really hard to get 7mana. I use this card in my exort deck for large casual multiplayer battles. Since i never attack or block with my creatures since i need their extort, they might as well be useful in some other way. using orzhov basilica or crypt ghast or even dark ritual 7 becomes quite easy achieve even relatively early. combine this card with 4 or 5 extort creatures you already have on the battlefield, including pontiff of blight it basically doubles or extorting capability. In a large game you start gaining so much life off each person their is not a whole lot anybody can do unless someone plays a board whipe

I think I'm missing something here... People are talking about copying this spell, then tapping the new angels for even MORE angels. How does this work when the first angels come in with summoning sickness?
Would be terrifying with say... a Door of Destinies, or an Archangel of Thune with a Seraph's Sanctuary.

@prognox
It's (basically) tapping as part of the cost of the spell, not as an ability of the creatures, in which case it doesn't matter that the creatures have summoning sickness or not.

thegreatsam has already explained, but there's nothing preventing other spell's ability's from tapping them. they just can't activate their own tap abilities and attack on their first turn.

This card is a great add in for any token deck. Especially since my token deck is G and W. I run mana ramp for the green, and the white and w/g cards are my token producers. And if I have Ajani, Caller of the Pride out, and a Doubling Season, activating his final ability is easy as heck. Really not hard to play this, and make it a jaw dropper.

Tossed as a one of in my Soul Sister build with Archangel of Thunes.the premise is mass ammounts of one drops buffed by archangels everytime a creature ETB.
Lets say I have 4 total Soul Wardens / Attendants in play and 1 Archangel of Thune lategame, Then on my next turn I cast Devout Invocation tapping all 5 of my creatures, resulting in 5 angels.
Thats 5 angels, 4 Lifegain per angel, 5 1/1 counters on all creatures I control, leaving me with 20 additional life and five 9/9 flying blockers.
If you can't win the game after a play like that then I highly suggest selling your cards :P

@People saying "win more" : I wouldn't exactly say that you have "already won" simply for having 7 mana and a half dozen 1/1 human soldier tokens on the board... You could actually be in a really weak position at the point in the game where you have 7 mana, on death's door, with ONLY those soldier tokens.

This is the card that Archangel's Light was supposed to be. Development nixed it at the last moment, after discovering some broken interaction and fearing that it didn't cost enough.
I guess further playtesting determined it actually cost too much, since they've reduced the cost by . But then again, we don't have Lingering Souls around anymore - I bet that's what broke it. :)
Devout Invocation doesn't target anything so Battlefield Thaumaturge doesn't actually have any effect. If it said "...tap any number of target creatures..." then there would be some synergy but sadly that isn't the case.
