I could see this being a good EDH general. I think that there are a lot of mono red dragons that have come-into-play abilities and such, and the fact that it can tutor them is really cool. However, the best dragons are multicolored, so I don't know where that would go... it is an interesting card nevertheless. 3.5 for synergy potental.

interesting, has synergy with a number of the kamigawa dragons.

"Ah yes, I will pay 3 and fetch my Dragon Tyrant, buff it up four times and attack you for 20, good game." :D

Dude, what? This is from Mirage. MIRAGE. You know, that set that had things like Crash of Rhinos. A 3/4 body for 5 that lets you toss ANY dragon from your library at your opponent for a measly 3 mana? Why would any deck running dragons NOT play this?

What's this? Another playable Viashino? A general-worthy Viashino!?

I wouldn't make him a general, but in a Scion of the Ur-Dragon deck, Zilirian can rapidly recover your general from a bottom of library or shuffle into library, and is cheap enough to activate that you can morph the Scion after searching him out as well.

Goeas well with Fodder Cannon or just use Fling.

Wow this is awesome I think I need one for my Scion of the Ur-dragon EDH deck.

The oracle text is functionally different than the printed. He is awesome with Sundial of the Infinite.

Some recent mono-red dragons have made Zirilian a viable choice as an EDH general. Combine him with Sundial of the Infinite or Tel-Jilad Stylus for repeated tutors.

If the dragon you fetch dies before the end step, does it still get exiled?

I am a little ashamed to admit it, but it has taken me nearly 16 years to realize that 1) It's Zirilan, not Zirilian, and 2) It's probably a proper noun (Zirilan, who is of the Claw) and not a title (a zirilan, belonging to the order of the Claw).

5 cost? I wish this guy was JUST. ONE. LESS. :P

I like him a lot, but I'm not going to build mono-red dragons when I could build Scion Rainbow Dragons or Kaalia Dragons Angels Demons. So for my real dragons decks I'd wish he could be played a little faster :/

I think I'd rather play Dragonspeaker Shaman, because I'm not sure yet how much percent of my deck I'm going to let be Red. If it turns out very Red, Zirilan is probably better, but there is a legitimate issue of color density because of the other cards I want to play.

Obviously, if colors are not something you see being an issue because you aren't interested in doing anything except straightforward Dragons Are Awesome, then go ahead and autoinclude him.

fetch Bogardan Hellkite 5 to the head, attack with dragon, then Fling it, 15 damage for 5 mana

EDH. This and Thornbite staff. So long as you have 6 untapped mana to spare you can usually grab two dragons per turn as long as one of them kills something. As long as Utvara Hellkite is the other, you get two 6/6 fliers out of the deal too.

Enjoys Sundial of the Infinite. Effectively becomes 4 mana to permanently get any dragon out of your library, as well as giving it haste. Win!

Sundial of the infinite and I believe Tawnos's coffin will also work preventing the dragon from being removed. a friend and I both made him, and he's fun. I went the old school wildfire route by focusing on land destruction.

Too bad the dragons are exiled instead of sent to the graveyard, otherwise it would combo nicely with Kokusho.

Perhaps there are heavier hitters but Archwing Dragon has build in reusability.

One of my fave Commanders. Dragons for 3 mana, with cards like Sundial and conjurers closet to keep the dragons in play. 4.5 from me besause I can't (in his deck) use his effect, then overload dragonshift, then bring out Utrava Hellkite.

Balefire Dragon is fun. For you maybe.

Helvault

Toss your dragons in after they've done the damage, or toss them in response to a removal effect.

When you crack the vault later, you get to keep them all permanently.

I don't think Sundial of the Infinite will work because the creature is exiled at the end of THE end step, not YOUR end step. Thus even if you end your turn early, the creature will still be exiled at the end of your next opponent's end step.
