Seriously? Why is Wizards so fond of reprinting cards that were literally in the previous set? At least this finally got new artwork, and it's pretty nice to boot.

How about this for a new take on this tired old spell: Same cost, "Target player discards a card at random then discards a card."

Orzhov is a major corporation with religion as its mask, excel in controlling the popular mass with faith and deals. Donate to this church and you will have your soul removed willingly.

A good reprint. I think it is needed in this limited format to be honest.

Always happy to see, and really digging the new art. Gonna have to get these to replace the ones in my discard deck (I play them cause my friends wont let me use Hymn to Tourach)

This is some great new artwork for one of the best discard spells of all time. Pros like me would be happy if Mind Rot was reprinted in every set.
There are what we call "limited" formats, draft and sealed. Some cards, especially ones at common, are designed with these formats in mind. It's not uncommon to see reprints of things like this, Naturalize, or Angel's Mercy so that players have access to certain basic functions and effects for each color.

So here's another garbage common that's been printed and reprinted more times than I can remember. Unfortunately, unlike Giant Growth, this card requires a specific deck to play it with--a deck that most people won't want to be playing in this block. Just remember when opening this up a dozen times when cracking boosters--you could have had a Goblin Electromancer.

ah, it seems as though my friends in the Orzhov have found their way in a set they arent even being introduced in... They probably bought their way into Return to Ravnica :)
Great new art on Mind Rot, its good enough that for flavor purposes allone it can definitely be fun and functional to play.

Complete waste of art here when it could have been used on a Orzhov card (something akin to Castigate maybe). Instead they put it on this... which really shouldn't have been reprinted for the umpteenth time when we have strictly better cards like Stupor in existence.

It annoys me that all these cards don't have the proper guild watermarks on them.

Loxodon Smitter will see play and this won't. It's still good for limited.

I love the core set reprints in Return to Ravnica. I'd like to see it continued in Gatecrash. What do you think good candidates might be?
I don't see many m13 creatures making the jump, though, as functional creature reprints can show off settings and guilds so easily.

What they got when they took Hymn to Tourach and made it balanced.
3/5 for nostalgic sadness.

I don't get the goobers saying that you should play Stupor instead of this. It's obvious that the only card to play for this effect is Hymn to Tourach. That's not even a contest.

Finally some new art. We've had Steve Luke's art from 8th edition to M13. Steve's art was great, but after seven sets, I think it was time for a change.

2/5. A Black staple but isn't catching my eye when drafting. Otherwise unplayable.

So this card was reprinted just one set later than the last reprint?

Not true. While Hymn is the best *monoblack* double discard you can get at the price (though many would argue that if you're not conforming to Legacy, just use Mind Twist for versatility and splashability!) Stupor is very splashable. Some of us won't drop $400 on making a multi-color mana-base that reliably handles Turn 2 {B}{B}. While that's a minor exaggeration, there's a huge difference between {2}{B} and {B}{B}.
{U}{B} loves Stupor (especially on a budget), but monoblack prefers hymn. People in standard .. probably don't usually run this.

Mind Rot; the first is easy to play around. The second is tough. The third is near impossible.

Great art for a nice little card. People can make fun of it all they want, but when they are on the receiving end they still have to pitch 2 cards..

meh card is meh. Why is it in both RtR and m14? @TwentyFifthBaam Hymn WAS ballanced. Good, but ballanced. Mind Twist, on the other hand....

I personally LOVE this art. Mind Rot is usually a solid 3.5/5 -- a decent spell, but one you have to build around for it to be really effective.
But for this art, I'll give this one a 4! The original art is good, and has stood the test of time much better than some of the older cards to be sure, but this is an excellent change of pace. I loved the RTR Giant Growth as well!
