This would be a very decent red Reanimate for or even , but like that it's not that easy to keep your graveyard emty except for the cards you want, therefore i'd just preferably play Footsteps of the Goryo for that cost, and the more reliable Zombify also only costs one more...

I don't know, Mode. This kind of sparks in me the desire to create a mono-red deck with no non-creatures, non-lands at all (save for this, of course). It would be abominable, of course, but some part of me wants that to work. You would pack it with creature-inclusive removal like Flametounge Kavu to make up for the lack of burn (A red deck without burn? Odd how foriegn the concept seems to me). And, as mentioned, extra shots with Ball Lightning. I don't think this would be something you could use in a standard reanimation deck- if you're filling the graveyard with select fatties, you're going to be running black anyway (if only for the Entombs). And there's just so much better for the cost in black.

Red is just....bad at this sort of thing, I guess. And is it just me, or does this flavour seem more white? Not the random selection, as that's very red, but the fact that you're going back and looking for fallen comrades. Would red really care about the dead, other than to scavenge? It's more of a "live in the now" colour. I think it'd probably pack up camp and move on.

The random nature of this card amuses me, and strikes me as very red. One strategy I haven't heard mentioned is alongside spells with Flashback (which exile themselves) and Grixis' Unearth mechanic, where reused creatures exile themselves, increasing the chances you'll get your creature.

@DoctorKenneth: You could use Death Sparks in your deck as burn.

A great reanimation spell if comboed with Harvest Pyre.
