Poor Thran Golem. Must be painful to be demoted like this. This guy's pretty nostalgic for me, and was one of my favorite cards I opened at the Urza's Destiny prerelease.

I really like this card, it was one of those cards I got in Urza's Destiny that made me excited to play it, but still I would've rather seen an updated version that could get bonuses for being enchanted or equipped.

this seems like an extremely random reprint. Did they feel that we would miss aura gnarlid too much?

It's like half an Angelic Destiny just for getting an aura attached.
Not terrible me thinks, but there is obviously quite a bit better elsewhere.

It's pretty much the worst thing ever when it gets mind controlled, which I did to some guy twice at the prerelease. If you're reading, sorry guy.
This creature has a very high affinity with the Umbras from the Zendikar Block. Not only will they activate his main ability, but will also protect the Golem from removal cards like Doom Blade and Terminate. Umbras are very cheap to buy and easy to play, I reckon its the whole reason behind the reprinting.
As the Umbras will cycle soon, I suggest making an Extended deck out of them. Key cards are Snake, Bear, and Boar umbras, with Thran Golem, Kor Spiritdancers, and Evershrike.

This guy allowed me to have a 10/11 Flying, First Strike, Trample, Lifelink Golem Angel with Hexproof and Protection From Creatures in the Pre-Release.

@alucard311: M12 has a small enchantment subtheme, auras in particular. e.g., Angelic Destiny and Trollhide. I guess when Kelly Diggs wrote that this was a "loud, splashy way" to draw attention to that subtheme, he was overestimating some Magic player's attentiveness. This is anything but a "random reprint." It was calculated, and in that, I can understand why it made the set. I feel like giving the card a higher rating than I would otherwise for that careful thinking by R&D. These guys know their job.

Eldrazi Conscription turns him into the long-lost retarded, special-needs brother of the Eldrazi titan family.
Aweome card, I threw this into a light, fire and waterdeck with Armored Ascension. The game was over in 3 more turns. One of the greatest cards I've ever seen. And for only 5 mana? Killer. ;)

I like the possibilities with this card. I'm interested as to whether or not a card like, say, Tempered Steel would trigger his buff ability. Anybody know a ruling on this?

It would not, Preposaurus. Enchanted means it has an aura attached to it.

Give him a Spirit Mantle and let the good times roll.
Half the good thing of auras is that your opponent doesn't expect them. This screams "I'M GOING TO ENCHANT THIS WITH SOME AURA SO GET RID OF THIS." not a fan.

Trollhide was the best enchantment for him in the set. 7/7 flying trample first strike regen swinging on turn 6, sooner if you throw in some ramp.

Eh, I wouldn't play it. I see its uses, but I don't use enchantments much.

paired him with Swiftfoot Boots and Trollhide and never looked back

Concerted Effort. Your. welcome.
