i do really like this card; 2 tokens and a scion of the wild is nothing to laugh about

This card is pretty cool. It's not obviously insane, but it definitely makes any spot removal awkward for your opponent. Probably not quite as good as Cloudgoat Ranger in a void, but in the context of the block this might shape up to be pretty valuable since both the tokens and the monk have relevant creature types. It certainly has enough enablers in Parallel Lives and Intangible Virtue.
Also it's five power on the board, which is what I think Vedalken_Arbiter meant. 3 (monk) + 1 (1st token) +1 (2nd token) = 5.

It does a pretty damn good cloudgoat ranger impersonation. Will token decks return? :3

This is five power right off the bat, even if you don't control any other creatures.
This card kept people on their toes in the matches as I had this and Midnight Haunting usually in combination letting it drop as a 5/5. It doesn't come out extremely powerful usually, but it's vigilance keeps it swinging more often than not.

There is some over-costing going on in this set - which is to say, I think part of the way they are seeking to slow the game is by tacking on bits of mana cost in places unexpected. This card would feel better at 2WW - coming from Scars/M12, 3WW seems really slow for how delicate it is on it's own. I have this notion that it will feel very different in a set or two.
I underestimated her. By ALOT. She can really close out games quickly.
Forced into playing red-white (My least favorite color combination) for the prerelease as the only decent rares i got were her and instigator gang and she certainly smashed some face vigilantly.
The deck got me to second place in the prerelease (1 match loss 1-2, to the first place finisher) and landed me a spot in the top eight draft we had for the grand prize; a mox jet.

This thing beat me down during Prerelease... I really, really, really like this card... A token deck seems likely.

probably my favorite card in innistrad so far. I was able to pull this, Garruk Relentless, Midnight Haunting and Parallel Lives at the release event this weekend and had more tokens than I could count. unfortunately I did not pull Intangible Virtue, but hey, pulling this and a garruk didn't really require a lot of thinking and I still went 4-0.

This + phantasmal Image = 2 6/6 vigilance + 4 1/1 flyers. Very underrated card. 4.5/5

Went 3-1 last week at a Standard tourney with a Green-White token deck that still needs a lot of work.
Hey, there's a kind of artistic link between this card and Fear - both have a woman in front of an ominous wall of skulls! Kind of neat that such black imagery (speaking in terms of colour identity) makes it onto a white card in this set.

She seems almost better outside a token deck, it would be unfortunate to have her out with an army of tokens poised to attack...having completely forgotten about the two mana token wrath of ratchet bomb

I am a bit confused as to why folk are implying the Monks P/T are 5 if it enters the battlefield with no other creatures on the battlefield, in ones graveyard or in some other way under your control.
If I understand the card correct, the Monk enters the battlefield w/ 2, 1/1 spirts. Now...If I do my basic math correct, should the Monk enter the battlefield w/ no issues, this is three creatures on the board. We are, again, assuming there are no creaturs in your graveyard or in any other way under your control, Just the Monk and the two spirits on the board after the Monk has been successfully cast...
Once I complete my basic math, I have 3 creatures under my control...The text states, "the Monk has P/T equal to the number of creatures I control"...With no other creatures under my control in any other zone, I am not understanding how other folk's basic math is leading them to believe this somehow comes into play as a 5 power or a 5/5 P/T...Please provide me with what you are smoking, explain to me what planet you were on when you learned math and/or reading comprehension, or somebody please explain to me wtf I am missing here...

The fourth rare/mythic in my pre-release deck today. Not a total beast, but most opponents were quite nervous after she was played.
this and Increasing Devotion seems awesome flash it back for more fun, as long as u dont get chump blocked (oh well, it has vigilance :D)

4.5/5 and I tell you, I am thinking of adding 2 of these into my Token deck for this standard.
I have a few of these, and they are really good in my opinion. Honestly, their not 5/5 material, but they are really close up there for a Rare card in Innistrade. The convert mana is definitely sweet for its abilities, but it's just something that's a little to expensive for the total of an ability.
= Add 2 Flying Spirits to the field. = Vigilance ability (Doesn't tap while attacking ~ = Toughness and Power = to creatures (In a TOKEN deck)

@BalZac: It's not that the Monk's P/T is 5/5 when she enters the battlefield if you control no other creatures. You are correct, she would be a 3/3 in this case. However, the total power hitting the table is 5: 3 from the monk (because you control 3 creatures), and 1 each from the two generated tokens.
I'm tempted to run one or two of these in my Spirit tribal. It's a sorcery-speed Midnight Haunting with a big body attached for (1)(W) more. And I love me some Midnight Haunting.

With Avacyn Restored, I can see this card shooting up in popularity even without a token deck. Why? Why, Cloushift of course! Bringing in a total of four extra power with one White? yes please!

Wanted to ask a potentially silly question...above, it states 'The ability that defines Geist-Honored Monk's power and toughness works in all zones, not just the battlefield.'...what does this mean? Creatures in the graveyard etc?
She and Restoration Angel are great friends. It's a shame no "good" decks are running her. She feels just short of being a staple. But with some flicker, I think she could really shine.

when i first started playing, i got this card, and for some reason i thought it was terrible. i have no f*cking clue why and the only explanation i can provide is that i was a newb at the time. i now see the light and understand it for its power. i have two in my spirit deck and i will never look back.

It is a shame that her artwork is very bad. If it's got better I'lll play it more often.
The monk itself doesn't have a power of 5; It's the combined power of her tokens as well. She comes out alone, and gets 2 tokens. You have three creatures, so she is a 3/3. But wait! Each token is a 1/1, so that, accumulative, gives you a total power of 5 at your command.

Even by itself it drops as a 3/3 and two 1/1 flyers, which isn't too bad for .

In one game, I had this, 3 Howlpack Alphas, and Intangible Virtue. Parallel Lives was in my hand but the game was over before I could cast it. It was just nasty.
Vigilance is such an underrated ability.
