No it does not work against Akroma, Angel of Wrath as she has protection from red which doesn't counter red spells, it prevents her from being targeted by them. Incidentally this spell only causes five damage anyway and Akroma has six toughness.

Yeah compare it, this cannot be countered. Its an instant. Black outright destroys the creature, but how many creatures can survive 5 damage? And it cannot be prevented, just in case. Even if they do drop a titan, you still have the chance to do a combat trick and hit them for 1 extra with a creature, or better yet, with something like Grim Lavamancer, pinging stuff red does best.

Interesting how this version is rated a full point lower than the M11 version...

This is far from being fulling susceptible to redirect. Not many red decks are going to have blue or white creatures out when this is played, it's a pretty narrow scenario. The only problem with this card is it doesn't deal 6 damage (to kill Sun Titan) otherwise it's fine, although a bit too narrow.

Fun fact: This card pops up in sideboards in modern to deal with Splinter Twin combo. It kills deceiver exarch and restoration angel and cannot be redirected to a spellskite, and of course can't be countered.
Even the most narrow cards can find a home if they are powerful enough at their job.

white and blue are the two least used colors in my experience :|
something that targeted black creatures might be worth a damn, but in any case color-targeted mechanics are pretty dumb.
cards that use it, like this, only have a place in casual games played among friends, when you know your friend is addicted to playing a certain color. for the most part, they suck.

@NanakoAC Are you serious? Casual games is where this card doesn't belong. This card is designed to be part of a side board. Do you even know what that is? This card is used to change your deck to suit your needs against a particular deck you are playing against in a best 2 out of 3 (or more) set.
These kinds of cards exist to maintain balance in the meta game. If one new type of deck begins to take over and it is the right colours, everyone starts sticking these kinds of cards in their side board for when they play against that deck.
I think they should reprint this, but make it say '5 damage to target blue or white creature or planeswalker' with everything else the same. That way you can kill jace and similar. It would really make this kind of card good.
This is good to sideboard, but I don't think I'd ever main deck this. It only works for 2 colors, and I see that as kind of circumstantial(this is why I generally dislike color hate). Great replacement for incinerate or searing spear if you're playing a blue or white deck, but otherwise, I don't see much of a point.

Kills Storm Crow. Luckily, I always keep a Mindbreak Tarp handy.

Does this work against an Archetype of Endurance ?

Destroy target Baneslayer Angel.
Also handy to burn any large fliers, like sphinxs.
Then trollface in your second game against a white/blue deck.
If this did 6 damage to kill Frost/Sun Titans, Consecrated Sphinxes, Skaab Ruinators, and attacking Gideons, it'd be a good sideboard option instead of a completely pointless card.
