Intrestingly enough a patch of fog costs more mana than normal fog. Very situational card overall. Fog almost always does the job but this might work better with a few cards.

I'd rather play Fog orTangle.

This card works well if you want to prevent any combat damage to you but also want to take out some of their creatures on their same turn.

This does absolutely nothing against tramplers, which is one main weakness.

It may not do anything against tramplers, but it would protect you against pre-Scars poisonous creatures and other things that trigger when they are unblocked. Granted there's probably only a dozen cards that applies to, but this is a game where every card has its place.

For this effect I prefer Respite or the ever-annoying Constant Mists. Interestingly enough, does stop Ophidian.

Wow, this is actually really similar to Tanglesap.

This still lets you do damage with any blocking creatures you want, which Tanglesap wouldn't. On the other hand, if any of your blockers have trample, Tanglesap would let them block safely, while this would still have them take damage.

You can also benefit from playing Tanglesap during your own attack, if you have a lot of tramplers, but it's much harder to get any benefit out of this card that way.

Combo with Fight to the Death if you're running Naya colours.

From left to right:
"How long until this patch of fog passes?"
"It's too thick. We'll have to wait until it clears."
"Aww man, I just had this thing ironed!"

I love unique effects.
The phantom blocker effect is special enough by itself, and this the only one of those that doesn't target.
This means this is the only way to block progenitus or invisible stalker.

Other effects can prevent the damage or actually get rid of the creature, but I'm an obstinate baloth. I like doing exactly the opposite of what I'm told.

While it fails to stop trample it is the only fog effect that can stops Excruciator and Malignus dead in their tracks. Not only this, but it also prevents those old cards with "is not blocked" clauses like Necrite and Dauthi mindripper from being able to trigger.

Other than that it's a rather awkward fog mechanic, but it's cool and has a unique little niche.
