This will be a 4/4 for 4 fairly consistently. Best horse ever printed?

I didn't use him at the prerelease and neither did anyone who won against me.

Great artwork. Average creature. Hard to get excited about 4/4 for when this set has 4/4 for and 3/3 Flying for , though this thing's mana cost makes it more likely to already have its buff when it hits the table.
@majinara: Su-Chi is rare. This is common.

I can't believe all the negative comments on this guy. I used him along with Rusted Relic because they both count themselves for their own metal craft and they're both very strong for their CMC values. And if I remember the original Masticore was used so much was because he was a 4/4 for 4 colorless mana so it could slide into any deck. This guy is a common 4/4 for 4.

If i'm running green, I'm gonna use Carapace Forger instead.

His main benefit is that he feeds his own Metalcraft, while the more efficient Metalcrafters in green and white do not, and are thus harder to turn on.

Su-Chi this is not. Edit: To the comment su-chi is rare and this is common: Su-Chi is only rare in Masters Edition which exists only on Magic Online. In paper it has always been uncommon (or the old sets equivalent of uncommon). And beeing common is no excuse for beeing unplayable in constructed. Oh, and there are better horses. ^^

The reason to play metalcraft in limited.
One of the better 4/4's for 4 with drawback artifact creatures.

Turn 1 (me): Play land, play Black Lotus, play Ornithopter, play Fountain of Youth, play Memnite, sac Black Lotus, play Chrome Steed Turn 1 (opponent): Plays Forest, plays Crumble on my Chrome Steed... I gain 4 life.
An absurd sequence, but it just struck me as funny...

When Su-Chi was printed, we still had mana burn, so his ability was a drawback.
This guy is pretty good anyway. I ran 3 of them at PTQ Paris in Sydney (sealed deck) and came 8th.

Should've been at least a 3/2 so you can swing for 5 by turn 5. I mean COME ON.

I hate limited Cards like these. It's not even remotly playable outside of limited environments. And even there I don't know if I would pick a 2/2 for 4 that possibly can become 4/4. Especially not with all the artifact removal arround.

I'm probably not the best person to comment on Chrome Steed, as I'm incredibly biased against Metalcraft, but here goes. Don't run this guy unless you actually have managed to draft a dedicated Metalcraft deck. If you haven't, then he's gonna be a 4-mana 2/2 most of the time. The best scenario is if you got a couple of Master's Calls in your Beseiged pack. Then he becomes incredibly good. However, don't take him early if you can help it. It's fallen from the pinnacle of popularity, and so there's a good chance of it tabling to your 9th or 10th pick. Thus, 3rd pick at best, 5th earliest you should take it if you can help it.
Assuming you're drafting artifacts, a 4/4 with no drawbacks in a deck that's supposed to have three or more artifacts out is a good deal. Pointless in constructed, obviously, but it can and will save your life in limited.

Anyways, I like this horse. I'm sure someone has already said its a 4/4 for {4}, which for an artifact is pretty good.

4/4 for 4 colorless is slightly above the curve, even with the current power-creep. You should assume it will be a 4/4. If it ends up being a 2/2, you've built your deck wrong. With the endless array of overpowered 0 and 1 cc artifacts out there, this could see use in decks like stax, if there weren't better options like precursor golem.
