This guy is possibly amazing. His synergy with Vengevine might be amazing.

I actually see some T1 potential for this card. Play with Sol Ring, Lotus Petal, Black Lotus, the Moxes, and all the other mana producing artifacts. Throw in Ornithoper and Memnite as well as other 0 cost Artifacts and things with affinity. Grab 4 Disciple of the Vault. Possibly some Skullclamp to draw through the non-artifact cards in your library.
Blue 2/1 for , that helps you to dig for something useful while you drop your artifacts on table? Hell, why not?

Can I play the card I draw if it ends up being the only card in my hand? Or do I have to immediately discard it?

@Shabroky
You wouldn't be able to play the card, because drawing and discarding is part of the resolution of Riddlesmith's ability, and you won't get priority to play spells again until after all parts of the ability resolve.

Definite synergy with Myr Reservoir. Draw, discard a Myr, return it to your hand.

@zarakstan
Yeah, no thanks,
I'm not willing to spend $10,000+ on a deck like that.
Let alone any deck.
Good luck, though.

Riddle me this Mr. Riddlesmith How many Riddles would it take to smith? Would you smith a puzzle, or smith a rhyme? Can you even smith the clock that keeps the time? Ive heard of blacksmiths, lumbersmiths and more. But never have I heard of a riddlesmith before. So riddle me this Mr. Riddlesmith. How many Riddles does it take to smith?
@ Shabroky: No, you can't play the card you draw before you are forced to discard. You don't have priority while the ability is in the middle of resolving.
Who are the jerks who downrated his (or her) post? The guy (or girl) was just asking a question.

Erik's Random card 7/29/2011 When Design, led by Mark Rosewater, handed over the set, it had more artifacts. This replaced one of them.
Mike Turian, the lead developer of SoM, had an idea for a cycle of cards that rewarded metalcraft (called presence at the time). This one was
3U Presence — At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control three or more artifacts, you may draw a card. 2/2
An extra card per turn is very very hard to beat, so Mike made the card a bit weaker:
3U Presence — At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control three or more artifacts, you may draw a card then discard a card. 2/2
Matt Place then had an idea. What if we had a cycle of creatures that rewarded you for casting artifacts? That could give a nice reward, without such a huge switch as "every turn". It was a terrific idea, and this card was very popular.

Reminds me of Vedalken Archmage. But half the mana cost, half the efficiency, and with an arguably better body. The best card to discard this is Kuldotha Phoenix, by far.
Run through your deck -> Replace your hand with combo pieces -> Win...
T1, whatever T2, Riddlesmith T3, Etherium Sculptor, play the top for free. Riddlesmith's ability goes on the stack. Tap the top to draw a card. Let riddlesmith's ability resolve to draw the top and discard a card from your hand.
Repeat with the top until you draw another sculptor, play it for . Continue searching with the top until you have a Myr Retriever in your graveyard, and one in your hand with a Grinding Station.
Opponent draws from an empty library on T3.
You can do this by playing Semblance Anvil on T3 as well, with the top in your hand of course.
