Better then some of the legendary creatures at the time...but that's not saying much.

Whoa. Looking at the card art I had to ask myself, 'Is she doing what I think she's doing?'. Then I read the flavor text and decided yeah, yeah she is. That pudgy fellow doesn't exactly look like a 'swordsman of renown' though. But I just love the idea of a womonster that randomly seduces cards in your opponents hand and slices them when they get too close. I'm also surprised no one has made any 'tap' jokes yet.

3/5 for 4 with a useful ability. This card is just great.
Sol'kanar is also a good 5/5 for 5 with good abilities.

Most of the other Legends in the Legends expansion are just crap due to their outrageous mana costs for just being vanilla creatures.

Epic. Simply the art is worth playing it.

5/5 for "going there."

An actually good legend from Legends? The equivalent of a 4/4 for 4 (unheard of in those days) and an ability better than Hypnotic Specter's? Not bad at all.

@markarmor: there were a few other decent ones. Nebuchadnezzar, Jacques le Vert, Hazezon Tamar, and Bartel Runeaxe come to mind.

Well now we know the 'adults only' version of how Yawgmoth really died in Urborg... flavor text says it all!

(Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth for those who don't know what I'm talking about.)

Holy crap, I almost rated this 2/5 out of habit from the other legends. This card is actually playable.

@BlakeHN
His "foul blood" is not the only thing that "seeps out"... I don't want to know what the "final curse" is, though.

A playable Legend from Legends?

Oddly, I actually find this usable. So it is in fact a good Legends legend. Thraximundar EDH can certainly find a slot for this temptress. I'm... I'm scared by the playability of this, as a matter of fact. 4/5

@achilleselbow: Rasputin Dreamweaver is another excellent one.

Nicol Bolas was not all that bad either...

Salient, I have to actually give you a major legit shoutout. I know which cards are likely to have awesome comments, but your LEGIT made me LOL IN REAL LIFE FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER.

I mean, like, not the first time in my life I have ever laughed. but the first time I've LOL laughed. LOL'ing is a specific subcategory of laugh caused by 'something was funny on the internet'. :P

and that was an actual literal LOL moment for me. :D >.<

The image quality here is horrendous, but if you can get a look at the art in better quality it's pretty cool!

We can all see the discarded blade on the pillow, owned by the "knight" of course, because who would keep a blade in the presence of an unarmed lady when you have been summoned to her bedchambers? A barely clothed woman can't possibly hide a blade, and she has no armor. She's defenseless, right?
Well this supposed knight certainly thought so, much to his immediate dismay.
The knight in the image is, in fact, holding a rather intimidating knife in his right hand, it's the same color as his shirt so it's a bit hard to spot at first glance. He is likely a hired assassin who played the role of a noble man with an innocent mind. However, Gwendlyn has beaten him at his own game and if you look carefully, she is holding a small blade to his throat, which is why he looks so surprised. Both of them had intentions to kill one another from the beginning, but Gwendlyn's wit outmatched the hired killers, an ability represented in her considerable P/T and random discard ability.

Grixis forever and such. Gwendlyn di Specter. Bolas's human servant or something?

While there were a few other decent legends in Legends, this was one of the few whose design seemed to recognize that requiring three colors in such a specific combination meant you could give her P/T above the curve (and 3/5 for 4 was well above the curve when she was printed, as opposed to just decent like it is today.)

@achilleselbow: and Rasputin Dreamweaver, Johan, Angus Mackenzie(EDH champ!), Dakkon Blackblade, Hazezon Tamar(Dragon Arch was MADE for this guy), Nicol Bolas(THAT'S A REPEATABLE MINDTWIST STAPLED ON HIM NOT LIMITED TO COMBAT DAMAGE!), Ramses Overdark, Rubinia Soulsinger(more EDH tech) Tetsuo Umezawa, Sol'Kanar The Swamp King, and Vaevictis Asmadi.

Sick and tired of people's BS about how Legends sucked. Iconic cards easily hard-casted these days, that enable huge combos or simply beat face.

@Psychrates: There were also a number of iconic non-legendary cards, such as Karakas (Legacy staple), The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale (sees some Legacy play), Chain Lightning (second best Lightning Bolt ever printed) The Abyss, Nether Void (both Pox staples for a long time), Land Tax, Sylvan Library (still sees some Legacy play), Mana Drain (the most busted counterspell ever printed). I agree that all in all, Legends was a pretty good set (vanilla legends and Wood Elemental aside ;) ).
