Lure/Regenerate, anyone? Still, even by itself, this is one cool card. And it's a Demon, so that counts for something.

It was one of my favorite cards until they made it a demon. It should have been a horror or a spirit.

The name is cool, the artwork is cool but the rest is not.

I love the artwork. Unfortunately, I've never really found a use for the card.

Lure/Regeneration won't work, because regenerating takes it out of combat. However, Lure/Fog or Maze of Ith work nicely. The combo is called "What's Mine Is Mine, And What's Yours Is Mine."

Instead of trying to make your opponent block him with something like Lure, you can instead just make it too costly for your opponent to leave him unblocked with something like Quietus Spike or Snake-Cult Initiation. Also, Christopher Rush is a god.

Yeah, the art here is way cool. Too bad the card isn't as awesome.

This card is so much fun. Especially because of how popular Lure decks were at the time. Add fog or regenerate and you just took all their creatures.
Lure/regenerating works just fine, because regeneration doesn't take a creature out of combat until it would have been destroyed. By that time, creatures have dealt combat damage and thus have been declared as blockers for The Wretched, and are susceptible to his ability.

If the creature blocking it dies, do you still get it or does it go to the graveyard?

My favorite piece of art in the entire game- glad I bought the shirt when it was available!
I used to love this guy, but they have since printed much better "creature stealing creatures" (Tolarian Entrancer, Merieke Ri Berit).
Not exactly a superpower, but an unmistakable icon of the early days of Magic, nonetheless.

One of my favorite magic cards. The art totally reminds me of Baphomet in Clive Barker's Nightbreed!! And I loooove that movie!
The Italian version is named "Il Corrutorre", which means "The Corruptor", which is actually an even more fitting name. I once even wrote a metal text with that title...

I like Heartless Summoning and curse of the stalked Prey to make this playable.

Ran a copy of him for a long time before I really read it. Not as good as I thought. Dread Slaver is waaaay better in my opinion. BTW, people saying you should equip him with Quietus Spike haven't read the card. Anything he kills stays dead, you don't get it for yourself.

Scythe of the Wretched is quite interesting for more than just style on this guy actually. If they block and die you get the card. If they block and don't die, you get the card (unless The Wretched dies..)
