Why wont you grow, little human? Why must you cost 2 mana and not one?

You know why this is crap? You can pump 12 mana into it and it'll still be 1/1

This is easily my favorite leveler, it's getting little love so far, but how awesome is this card in bant colors with training grounds or a venerated teacher? Especially in green, alongside garruk. Imagine 2 3/3 elephant tokens a turn paired with a 3/3 garruk wildspeaker beast token, topped off with a bestial menace.. how many creatures is that all at once?
Yes, it's still a slowish leveler, but its one of the best ones.

Now see, you all thought those elephant Tokens were only good for a few green spells... HAH!
Yes, yes, the body is weak... but who cares? Green has a plethora of simple spells that keep people alive, especially now that the Umbra's are out with Rise of the Eldrazi. Old-school solutions like Regeneration also can keep her alive long enough to do her thing.
Crank out those 3/3 tokens and kick ass! Drop an Instill Energy and make 4 elephants per turn!
4/5
Oh, BTW, fun old-school combo. This + Intruder Alarm = 5 billion elephants.

Translates into card advantage. 2/5. Could enter Eldrazi-Green decks for T2. If it receives recognition, 4/5. Good luck tuskcaller!

Come on people, slap an umbra on this one and you have a tap 3/3 token generator for not a whole lot of mana (just get it to lvl 2), this guy rocks!

It's not good cause it's printed in the same set as forked bolt.
And the same block as burst lightning. Lightning bolt being standard also adds a bit of suck to this. When I played this in the prerelease, i made an average of about 1 elephant before she died. that's 4 mana for a 3/3; not very good.

I would love it much more if it didn't eat removal so easily. All it takes is one ping, and down it goes.

Still have to test it a little, but even in mono green mana ramp this card is not that good. For 6 mana, I'd rather play 2 Leatherback Baloths, 1 Timbermaw Larva and a Vines of Vastwood to protect it, or even a Rampaging Baloth instead of putting a 1/1, leveling it up and putting a 3/3 per turn after... let alone 14 mana fro 2 elephants per turn.
Other interesting comparison with monogreen is with Avenger of Zendikar. In one turn, with 7 lands in play, a full Khalni Heart Expedition and a land in hand, I managed to play him, along with 7 3/4 plant tokens that can still grow next turn. That's something Kazandu Tuskcaller can absolutly not do. Even out of this ideal situation, a harrow, rampant growth or/and a land on the next turn is still a possibility.
I guess it could be played with Training Grounds and Venerated Teacher, but in the best case it would be an elephant token ready on turn 3 with either of those 2 cards.
It is easily burned or tapped before use unless you have Vines of Vastwood, then again, you might be mana/green mana tapped if you are trying to level it too fast.
I did lose a few games to her in limited, I guess it could be a good card there.

The tokens are amazing, but this dies to Shower of Sparks. If you want to pump it (you should have the mana, anyhow), you should also protect it.

I keep going back and forth about putting this guy in my R/G Token deck. on one hand, I don't have anything to protect it, on the other, I usually have more then enough mana.
My record number of elephants from this guy is 14, with a Quest for Renewal.
Great in limited. Not only does it produce tokens at a relatively cheap cost, but they're pretty significantly sized tokens.

Incredible card, came 2nd in a FNM constructed with a playset, in the final round, he O-Rings the Fauna Shaman. I drop this, he doesn't have a spot removal and is tapped out. I untap pay 4, for the rest of the game I had unlimited 3/3's. GG
Sure it dies to removal, but every card dies to something. The effect that this card brings means if they don't remove it, they have lost the game.

One time this guy had an umbra and got in 15 elephants on me. When my opponent played Overrun, all I did was yell "Stampede!!"
I guarantee that if this had been an Elf, it would have only cost G to summon.

This gal plus an active quest for renewal in a multiplayer game where you have some kind of protection.

I don't see why I would need to level her up all the way. on turn four I can make an elephant each turn. that's good enough for me.

Garruk's girlfriend!!!
This deserved a casting cost of instead of . If you invest in this, you usually see a 3/3 for your opponent on turn 3 and maybe a more powerful creature on turn 4. So to negate the speed loss, you have to "waste" some turns... and still have a very vulnerable creature.
In addition, this should have been an Elf, just to make it more comboable with elf leveler creatures.
this is a decent card. for a 5 mana investment, you can poop out a 3/3 elephant everysingle turn! my elephant army has won me numerous games, especially in casual after I've popped a lightning greaves or aspect of mongoose on her.

Level-ups biggest downside was being restricted to sorcery speed!
