Honestly, isn't it time for an art change? I mean, newer cards like Cancel got reprinted in near subsequent sets and re-arted, so why hasn't this one been re-arted yet?

Because there's no reason to change great, iconic art like this.

I love this card. the art is awesome and the effect is even better. As soon as I opened this in a prerelease I instantly got offers for trades.

There are so many deck types that this card works in that I don't know where to begin. I use it in a White deck with lots of cards that have either Angel, Human, or Soldier in their type, then I play Honor of the Pure (+1/+1 to all White creatures) and a Veteran Swordsmith. It works especially well since most of that deck has Exalted, and I can attack with Akroma, Angel of Wrath to deal trample damage (and once I get Rafiq of the Many, Battlegrace Angel, and Finest Hour, she'll get double strike, lifelink, and then I can attack again afterwards with Reya Dawnbringer or one of my other tramplers).

This card is ridiculously versatile and I wouldn't mind having 4 of them in every creature based deck with the same subtype that I plan on making.

Great card...I use it with my elf/wolf deck...1/1 tokens were coming out at 4/4 and rising when I won

If you have this card and you're not putting it in a tribal deck, or any deck that has many of the same creature types in it , then you need to take another GOOD HARD look at this card. It should be ubiquitous in any tribal or creature type themed deck. Just read it! Great card in the right deck.

I preferred the art from 7th edition

but about the card! Run it in my squirrel deck. Earthcraft + Squirrel Nest + Coat of Arms = infinite infinite/infinite squirrels

Really just amazing in any deck that uses 1 creature type and spams them

Mana cost is a little high. Not really worth it unless in a mana-sufficient, mono-tribal deck. But then you are limiting your options. The only thing I think it would work in is tribal weenies, so goblins, elves, and soldiers. Changelings gets a great boost from this. Big draw back is if your opponent(s) also play tribal decks. I have a foil version of this card, it can sell for so much. Decent card, hate the art.

This card is powerful for sure, but risky. I used my opponent's Coat of Arms against him last week. I beat him with 17/17 Sigil of the Empty Throne tokens while his army was being held back by various Pacifism effects. While I like "snowball" effects, I don't like helping my opponent, so this card will never be a favourite of mine. I don't mind Wizards reprinting it, but seriously, they should ditch this art.

I think the potential power increase is great, but it helps my opponent too.. makes this sort of situational. If my opponent is playing another tribal deck, or simply something with a lot of the same creatures in it, they get the exact same benefit I do. Assuming it doesn't just get removed since it takes 5 mana and by that point in the game theres usually some artifact destruction going around. All in all still a powerful card, works very nicely with sensei golden tail.

I've been hunting for a pair of these for my soldier deck. A guy playing elves annihilated me with this card a while back--that was the first time I realized what it could really do. It was a death sentence.

True, it's risky that you might be giving the same advantage to your opponent, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. Odds are this banner will be flying in your favor more times than not, and having just an ounce of that kind of certainty in a deck would be very comforting to me when I'm going up against the unknown every Friday night.

First up - the 'infinite squirrel combo' does work, but would really require an infinite amount of turns given that your new squirrels are coming in with summoning sickness. Actually, it wouldn't work on that note - your deck would run dry well before you reach infinity.

In any case, it's a GREAT card. Yes, it helps your opponent, but don't let that fool you: the only risk is if they're also playing a tribal deck, and then you can always choose to hold it back for when it gives you the advantage.

It's in my soldier deck right now, and I couldn't imagine another tribe being able to make as many tokens as quickly, so it's got a snug little place. It's always nice dropping a Conquerors Pledge on turn 5, then Coat of Arms on turn 6 and possibly driving home the win with an offensive brave the elements to back it up.

Look at the card this way when playing white soldier weenie: Conqueror's Pledge gives you 6 tokens. Coat of Arms would give those tokens +5/+5 if they were the only soldiers on the field. 30 points of power for only 5 colorless that is unlikely to boost your opponent nearly as much? Hell yeah!

Uh, for whoever said it'd take an infinite amount of turns to get infinite squirrels: you really missed the Squirrel Nest + Earthcraft combo. REALLY missed it. You can create infinite squirrels in ONE turn, and while they cannot attack that turn, they sure can NEXT turn. Alternately, you could just have a Goblin Bombardment out instead of Coat of Arms, and deal infinite damage in the same turn.

I run a changeling deck with Peer Pressure and this. Normally your opponent's creatures would get huge bonuses off your changelings (although changelings do get buffed by every creature your opponent drops as well), but that doesn't matter as I can literally wipe his board clean of creatures, gaining control of all of them. It's fun but doesn't always work. For added effect add Unnatural Selection and/or include Amoeboid Changelings.

I want to like this card, but I used it against an elf deck once, and was severely punished for it.

I am considering using this in a soldier deck with conqueror's pledge and captain of the watch. I think to use this card effectively you need some token generators. Your opponent's creatures will usually have common creature types, so you should rely on simply pumping out more creatures than them.

Turns multiplayer games into massive headaches, each player has to count creatures before doing almost anything.

This is an awesome card though, same time also kinda sucks lol. Fun, but generally leery of this card, just for fun added it to a deck of mine just for the meer fun of it... I'm glad the art work has stayed the same the whole time :D Wish the Sengir Vampire card's art work had stayed the same too....

I personaly perfer door of destinies. I use it in a mono black zombie deck and cycle fleshbag maruader in and out of my graveyard to pump it up fast and to eliminate my opponents creatures. Really the best reason to use door over the coat of arms is to prevent your opponents from geting a bonus for their creatures, also it costs one less.

this card gets a lot of extra life from eldrazi drones. say hello to my 7/7 emrakul's hatcher and his three 4/5 friends. why sac lands for devastating summons when you have coat of arms?

a must have an ANY tribal deck. One problem is that if your opponent has a tribal deck, he gets the bonus too. But in my EDH elf tribal with Rhys the Redeemed as a general, its always worth it.

I run this card in my eldrazi deck which is based on getting out eldrazi spawns then not only do u have the spawns for lands but they all get the +1/+1 benefits as well.

one of my favoratist cards. I love my tokens, so in a token tribal... well 48 kor soldiers 25 scars cats, a Kemba with a Konda's banner, true conviction and this made a gain of over 8400 life in one fell swoop.

Yes, it's a double-edged sword, as that other elf deck could beat you with your own artifact. On the other hand, if you're not a fan of combo and control decks, this boosts the tribal subset of aggro decks enough that it might push your casual 60/4 or casual commander into the type of game you'd prefer to play. You know, if you're the type of person who desires to craft their group into what they'd prefer rather than just whine about it. Since I've never heard this card mentioned as a tool in that way, I figured I would suggest it.

A fun card that backfires more often than you expect; which is what makes it so intriguing. A friend uses this in a token deck and often finds himself in odd situations where he's powering up my blue-control or my goblins, neither of which is supposed to be all that aggressive (the way i've built them at least.) But.. when you have 4 5/5's, you may as well kill something :)

You'd think this would cost more than it does, given the effect it has, but the drawback of affecting the opponent's creatures as well is supposed to drag the cost down. Unfortunately, Coat of Arms usually sees play in decks built around swarming the board, and as such, it greatly overpowers the opposition. It can turn a board of 1/1s into powerhouses that should never be that powerful for how easy it is to generate tokens and play this passive buff. Much hatred for cards that enable easy mode.
