combat trick, stops removal, and sets up for the alpha strike for W. I'm for it!

Are you serious? Play day of judgment.. use brave the elements to save your creatures for 1 mana, and wipe your opponents field. White is just so buff right now.

If WW is still viable (which, it should be) then this card will be huge.

Evenblackerlotus: Brave the Elements wouldn't protect your creatures from Day of Judgment.

@evenblackerlotus : If a creature has protection from something (let's say white), it means it can't be targeted, enchanted, equipped, damaged, or blocked by anything white. Unfortunately, Day of Judgment does none of those five things, and so Brave the Elements won't save your guys.

I know, it seems silly that Protection doesn't cover getting DESTROYED, which would seem to be the primary concern of being "protected"...but hey, that's what Wizards decided long ago. (Also, I just don't think it would feel right if a mere creature with protection from a color could live through the Wrath of God or the Day of Judgment.)

This card should be called "How to spend one white mana the right way."

This card is inexpensive and versatile in a deck full of white creatures. It can be used to save all of your guys from Volcanic Fallout or Earthquake. You can also use it during combat to fly past your opponent's blockers. White is so powerful!

An absolute must in any white creature deck. I would say it's the white counterpart to Lightning Bolt, except BtE isn't as versatile as Bolt.

Still, 5/5

Does BtE protect against cards like Infest?

I thought harms way was good, but brave the elements is even better.

As people have mentioned, this does NOT protect your creatures from non-targeted spells. Spells that do damage to all creatures, or all creatures you control (ie. Wrath of God or Infest) are unaffected; however, anything that specifies target creature/s (ie. Lightning Bolt or Fireball) is nullified.

As if white weenie isn't already very strong right now, this card brings it up even higher. In so many games with my friends they've felt comfortable that they could live another turn with their defenders and the board as it is. Throw down a Brave the Elements and swing in for the win. It's also nice for saving my pretty Armored Ascension creatures from the reaper.

It's this card's versatility that makes it insanely good. First, it's a one drop counter to removal or anything else that your opponent might do to one of your creatures. Second, it can turn a disadvantaged table into a huge advantage by giving one-sided damage prevention. Just block your opponents alpha strike and laugh. Last, it's white's one-drop Overrun. Sure you don't get any bonuses to power or toughness, but you essentially get unblockable instead of that measly trample. The only problem is that the second two effects are sometimes imperfect against multi-color decks, which are obviously common in the meta. However, more often than not even against a multi-color deck most or all of your opponent's creatures share at least one color. Bottomline: this card wins games; early, mid, or late game. 5/5

Awesome card, shame it only targets White but for one Plains giving all of your White creatures protection, it's really great.

One of the most versatile spells in recent memory, and one that any self respecting mono-white deck should be running four of. A single white mana to either save one or more of your creatures or give you a nearly unblockable attack. White continues it's reign of awesome.

Okay, so Blue is suffering pretty badly right now, and then WotC turns around and gives white a one-mana Negate, Overrun, and so much more. Why is white so powerful right now? Blue is supposed to have the best countermagic but everything good is WHITE for some reason. Also, I decided to play Standard so I wouldn't have to spend the $225 i will never have on tarmogoyfs, and then as if in response, WotC makes Baneslayer Angel. Why does this have to happen to this game that was once insufferably awesome and is now woefully imbalanced?

Stupid recession.

This can win the game for you. Conqueror's Pledge and this with a couple of boosters can easily win. Also, it makes whites immune to mass removal, except Infest.

I got this card yesterday and did a massive double-take. All of your white creatures gain protection at instant speed for 1?!

Anyone who rates this at under a 5 is fooling themselves.

i completely agree with everyone here. great white 1 cast. probably honestly one of the best overrun abilities in the game, goes great with standard white allies. my girlfriend has a question, and i don't have a proper way to explain it. she wants to know exactly why protection doesn't allow creatures without flying to block dudes with flying. if you can explain it in words that are not "uh....well....it just doesn't" please respond!
Zosk
★★★★☆ (4.1/5.0) (5 votes)
Zinvampire, the simple explanation is: Creatures with flying fly over creatures without flying. So while the creature on the ground may have protection from the flyer, it is not able to reach to block it.

Protection on a creature, protects that creature in many ways, but it does not protect the player from threats that evade said creature.

If you read the rules for flying and for protection, you will see that they reflect that concept.

Awesome card. But just to clear up some misunderstandings some posters here have:
1. This does squat against mass removal. Mass damage, yes, it works against, but mass removal, no.
2. Wrath of God and Infest do not deal damage. It is because they don't deal damage (and don't target, can't forget that) that this doesn't stop them. JaxonBateman, if those two did deal damage, protection would stop the damage. Protection prevents damage.

@Th3_Dark_On3

For a long time, white has been what can only be called the weakest/worst colour, and for good reason. After Lorwyn, as early as Shards of Alara, white began to get good card- Elspeth, and then Path, with a few other cards showing up here and there. White was becoming a colour on par with most of the others.

And then we got M2010, and Baneslayer. Baneslayer Angel is not a good card, for several reasons. First, and most obviously, it's unbalanced. If you're unsure what I mean, refer to Serra Angel and Shepherd of the Lost, two balanced five-drop angels. Second, it gave Wizards an opportunity to abuse its new "Nythic" rarity. Its rarity was Baneslayer's only balance, and a poor one at that, and made it a card with such incredible demand that it is one of the most expensive cards in standard, putting it out of reach for many players.

Yet, despite these drawbacks, blue players in this post-Lorwyn world point at white, or perhaps more accurately, cards like Baneslayer, and scream, "Heresy!"

I've been playing white for years, and have lost to most of the blue decks, red decks, hell, most decks out there. White needed a reboot, and, barring Baneslayer, which I feel is unfair, white has become a competitive colour, and blue was toned down, presumably, to bring further balance.

Please don't complain. And don't advocate hosing white again.

Thanks.

So now win conditions cost White and only $0.25

Did this yesterday in a casual game with my girfriend
T1:Plains, Elite Vanguard
T2:Plains, Veteran Armorsmith
T3:Plains, Veteran Swordsmith
T4:Plains, Veteran Swordsmith, Brave the elements in response to her Unsummon, swing for 12 unblockable
T5:Oust on her Merfolk Sovereign, Brave the Elements, swing for 12 unblockable. I left one of my Swordsmiths untapped in case something happened and I didn't win.

It was a turn five win using only cards that costed 2White, WhiteWhite, White, and I only attacked twice.
This card is broken in my opinion. Protection from chosen color in general is broken in my opinion. It's why I love it, because most people don't realize it's awesomeness. Oh, play Emerge Unscathed instead if you are only splashing white though.

Play Ajani's second ability, then cast brave the elements and you have a +1/+1 full scale unblockable attack with vigilance.Leaves your guys unttaped and ready to block if you don't win immediately..Great win condition better than overrun..This card works also as one of the best prevention spells in the game..5/5

1CMC should no have this huge effect, screw lightning bolt, giving all your creatures protection for 1 measly CMC, must be a misprint or some other kind of mistake, they cannot have playtested this at WotC and thought "this is a fair effect for 1CMC", unless it was the same guy that made gameslayer angel that made this. And it's uncommon, so they cannot even make the pathetic "mythic makes broken fair" argument with this one. Shame on you wizards. 1 CMC should never make your entire army nearly invulnerable and nearly unblockable. If this became the standard at 1CMC, then what would you get for 2CMC? All your creatures get first strike, flying and life link?

Probable the best white 1-mana Instant in the game, if only by virtue that I would still have 4 of these in any self-respecting white deck if it costed three.

Ridiculously good card for any mono-white creature deck. It protects your creatures while letting them evade blockers at the same time. It's less useful against RDW and control decks with mass removal.

@somegeek

Its because BTE costs one less than bathe in light, and radiance also affected your opponents. so lets say you were running boros, and decided to BTE for red and do Blasphemous Act, your creatures would be safe. and your opponents boned. if i used bathe in light and my opponent was also running white. they would be safe from blas act as well. brave the elements is just an improvement in every way. lower cmc and one sided for you.

Why is Bathe in Light rated so much lower than this? An adjustable Brave the Elements for 1 more?

Edit: Thanks, Batman.
