This is a very exciting card. White gets a strong(ish) tribal effect at common on a creature that encourages aggressive play. Furthermore, it requires a dedication to white that will, over the course of a draft, guide the savvy player toward building a Soldier deck. Some will argue that Wizards is forcing the deck archetype. And they are. But that's what makes this so exciting!

Great alongside Veteran Swordsmith

who can argue with a 2/3 for 2? with power=cost, and enough toughness to survive volcanic fallout/infest, it already has the advantage over early board sweepers. Not only that but it buffs your other soldiers to help them resist board sweep as well. For white weenie, this is even better than the swordsmith. in combination with honor of the pure, or captain of the watch, or even a second armorsmith, it raises any 1/1 soldier token as well as your elite vanguards past 2 toughness, making them impervious to infest and volcanic fallout. By turn 3 or 4, you could even make all of your creatures, even tokens, impervious to firespout, agony warp, everything except targeted destruction. and I think we all know how poorly a few targeted destruction spells fare against hordes of creatures that can't be touched by the cheap board sweepers. In truth, all they have to fear is a large drop earthquake, lavalanche, planar cleansing, or 7 or more drop martial coup (from their own arsenal =P). And we all know how useful a single dauntless escort can make in that situation... Very solid. 4.5/5

I can't believe they printed this at common. The power creep here is more surprising than on Veteran Swordsmith because of the CMC 2.

i cannot believe that they made this two mana... it should at least be three and this alongside the swordsmith should be uncommon-plus

this is one of those cards which makes me wish there is a Report Abuse button for the card itself. Newer cards like these simply lack imagination

The question I have is, when Veteran Armorsmith is destroyed, do the soldiers that were affected with the +1/+0 still have the +1/+0 or is this considered a static affect that is only valid while the card is on the battlefied?

He's really good, but the {W}{W} cost makes can make him difficult to cast on turn 2 if not playing mono-white, and he's not cheapened with Ballyrush Banneret.

2 mana is great for a 2/3 anyway, his ability just sweetens the deal.

essentially, he is a 2/2 that gives all soldiers you control +0/+1
same goes for Veteran Swordsmith and her power boosting.
just something i noticed with the pair.

@koren247
Firstly, he gives them +0/+1, not +1/+0
Also, the second he dies, all your other soldiers lose their extra toughness. So if you have two of them and your opponent does 3 damage to each, neither will die, but if your opponent does one extra damage to one of them, then they both hit the graveyard.

It looks like the Armored Warhorse took up Blacksmithing.
