This thing is scary. High casting cost, but being able to tap destroy creature/land is pretty bad ass. Protection from black can keep it alive against Terror for a while, and you can use things like Breeding Pit to keep it happy.

I see strong potential in this guy for a Black/Green deck. Just throw Instill Energy on him and watch him go.

Um...Can't you activate the Minion's ability in response to the triggered ability, thus killing a land before it taps itself? >_>

What you guys are missing is that he only gets tapped if he deals the damage. Play a black/white deck and pack some Circle of Protection: Blacks. Problem solved.

Or you could just enchant him with Pariah. Problem solved... unless you get damaged by nonblack sources, haha.

This is a better use for sacrifice fodder than Lord of the Pit, I think, since it creates card advantage and can't be Terminated. Though back in the day, protection from white would have been much more useful and would have made him pretty much invincible. Unfortunately with powercreep, we now have his children Visara the Dreadful and Helldozer.

Love this evil little guy. His pro-black allows you to run Pestilence all you want without losing it. Upkeep can be worked around. But I have this question - why is it that Lord of the Pit MUST sack a creature if it's available (check ruling) but it's not the same for Minion of Leshrac?

If this is his minion, then how did you get destroyed by Nicol Bolas?

Leshrac is a planeswalker. Thus he is not necessarily bigger than this thing or scarier, just better at controlling. Although, um, he does control Lim-Dul, and... um... yeah never print Leshrac.

I think the word 'during' is the key not to get hurt by him, theres lots you could do during your up-keep. Or on the other hand having a permanent out which allows you to put a creature you 'own' into 'a' graveyard each turn can have its advantages mind you, can be risky. I would give it a 5/5 if it said 'permanent' instead (in both cases).. 4.5/5
