one of the better 'stick an extra effect on it' counters in awhile.

This card is really, really fun, and playing it for both effects is the way to go.

this card is great. If this is in your hand, you can afford to sac a creature to kill one of their creatures, counter ANOTHER creature on their turn, and then put your creature back into play.

Pretty cool, but you have to make sure you'll be getting the max out of this spell. Play a lot of critters that can sacrifice themselves. Really solid in a right deck. 4/5.

Both creature and card advantage in one efficiently-costed instant...it fit nicely in my vintage u/b discard/control deck and i'm currently loving it.

So it's both a Remove Soul and Disentomb. Nice...

Every card that somehow involves Bolas is amazing epic, I love it.

After playing with this card a few times I'm really on the fence about it. It has 2 really useful abilities, but I always seem to be holding it in my hand when someone plays an instant or a sorcery I need to counter, and I can never bring myself to use it for just the return a creature to your hand ability unless I'm in a desperate situation. It's still a good card, just too situational for me

I think this could do work with Lullmage Mentor.

My first reaction to seeing this card: "An instant Disentomb or Remove Soul? Not that great..."
After reading more carefully: "'Choose one or both'....!!!!! MUST USE THIS"

It might be rather situational; you may not have a creature in your grave as early as turn 3, and it cannot counter noncreature spells. But if the conditions are satisfied this card is excellent card advantage; for one card, you reclaim a used one and thwack one of your opponents!

@Binaro: Odd... I saw the "Choose one or both" first. But that might have something to do with the fact that it's the first four words of the text.

I'm ordering a copy of this card for my Sedris, the Traitor King EDH deck. I want it NOW. Seriously, cast this in response to a general hitting the battlefield, and in the late game when a general might have already entered and left play several times, this can stop an opponent's turn cold while you get a fatty of your own back for your next turn.

Perfect mana cost, perfect abilities for BlueBlack, amazing flavor text. 5/5

Think of it this way: You're getting an Essence Scatter that, instead of cantripping, lets you find the card you want to draw, for a mere {B} extra. Catrippy Scatters usually cost {2}{U}{U} (see Bone to Ash)

It's good, but don't hesitate to use it when you have to, even if you don't get to use both effects.
