The color scheme and cost are not worth paying for a simple 4/2 with first srtike. Either it will get hit with Tarfire or killed by Volcanic Fallout. And if your opponent plays white removal or other first srike creatures, then the ogre is even more useless. This card is deserving way too much praise from some of these other comments.

Yeah, the only thing great about this card is the art.

Clout of the Dominus anyone? This will rock your opponent with the clout attached to it... First strike, Haste, and Shroud will make this rather devastating aint it...

it's cool, but what it actually does is disappointing at best.

also, why does every multicolored creature have the unnecessary comment explaining a scenario where the creature has a shadowmoor or eventide aura attached to it?? don't answer that.

Vulnerable to removal, particularly burn, but less so to creatures; against a creature-heavy deck this guy can really bring it home. 4/2 FS plows through Wall of Omens, Sprouting Thrinax & kids, and scares off Bloodbraid Elf while he's summoning-sick. Brutal if you can pump, especially with Demonspine Whip.

It's one of my finisher in my Everlasting Torment deck (format Lorwyn/Shadowmoor - Shard of Alara), with many others creatures with first strike and 2 Bloodmark Mentor, 6 ping creature like Blood Cultist and Vithian Stinger,3 Ashenmoor Liege, 3 Kulrath Knight and for both attack and defense, 3 Tatterkite...

4 power, first strike and unearth is very useful. At least 3,5/5. In this deck, with wither and "haste/unearth", 4,5/5. With Ashenmoor Liege, 5/5!

I actually almost agree with the average rating (3.5/5 for me), but yeah, the first strike makes him a beast, 4, with 3 different colors for the CC seems a bit expensive but honestly, in my Grixis deck, I cast this guy 4th turn all the time.

He's really not THAT threaning, so your oppenent countering or zapping him is a bit of a waste on their part, and if they do, he has unearth and I can't tell you how many times I've left this guy in my graveyard for like 4 or 5 turns and then blindside my opponent for 4 to the face.

Also, kittyspit mentioned the Gorgon Flail and that's excellent, but I much prefer Magefire Wings (another underrated card). Turn 4 or 5 (depending on ramp) you have a 6/2 Flying First Stiker out? With unearth? Nastiness.
