It's true that this card is not simply strictly worse than Lightning Bolt due to the synergy it offers with Goblin decks, although it is tempting to think of it as strictly worse. Really cool concept too.

Yes its not necessarily worse than lightning bolt in the fact that you can actually use boggart harbinger's affect to get it, if needed. not to mention boggart birth rite and wort, boggart auntie can bring it back.

What advantage does it get for being a Goblin subtype/card?
Tarfire can also be useful if you run Door of Destinies. Burn your opponent or a creature and pump your Goblins at the same time. :)

I've had several games where I would have loved to have these in my deck instead of Lightning Bolt, but on the other hand, I've also had many games where I was glad that I chose to go with the Bolt instead of this... Hmm, perhaps I should simply run a single copy of this instead of a Lightning Bolt so I can search for it with Goblin Matron when/if necessary? But what if I draw this instead of a Lightning Bolt early on? Ugh, the headache

Great card, Run as a 1 of in Legacy Goblins for a little bit. Good to have to burn of a pesky Mutavault when you need to get there with a Piledriver.

try combining this with Goblin Matron, Boggart Harbinger, Goblin Ringleader, or Goblin Recruiter, you have a seachable Shock.
Boggart Birth Rite or Wort, Boggart Auntie, and do it again.
