This one's either going to break the game wide open or take up space in your hand for a long time. I can see it being a deathblow in decks that can minimize opponents' board presence via repeatable bounce effects but it's not easy to cast and would really hurt to get countered in a control vs control match up.

For some reason I like this card. I think it will be good against reanimation, or unearth. I might substitute the Mind Shatters for this.

3.7, are you kidding me? You have any idea how much tournament play this card gets?

Very heavy casting cost, but incredibly disruptive to decks that rely on Graveyard effects. I agree with dgregory's comment that against the WRONG deck, this is ballast.

My friend dominated my black deck with this, but it was just a waste of a card against my red deck.

My friend cast this during the 3rd to 4th turn with his the rock deck. It's pretty when u got hit by it. It's like a mini cruel ultimatum. Pretty useful in getting rid of those pesky bloodghast.

the best card to cast with this: Mass Evacuatioln.

Very powerful spell. If it works, it's great. It's casting cost means that it will be cast late game when your opponent's hand is all ready gone. Best place for this card is in the side board. Maybe against the blue player who always has 7 cards in hand. Anywho, in today's standard Mind Sludge might be better.

It's too narrow as it is. Expensive graveyard hate is done better in Haunting Echoes and to expensive for discard, most likely to net you 3 cards at most. It just needs a little bit something more to make it usable, such as gain life for each card removed.

I'd say this is great against graveplaying decks and/or dredge decks, and it is, sure. But with cards like Ravenous Trap...it pales in comparison.

The earlier this is played, the better, at least against most opponents. It's not that hard to get out by turn 3 in the right deck - for example:

Turn 1 Plains
Turn 2 Swamp, Marble Diamond
Turn 3 Swamp, Dark Ritual, Identity Crisis.

Or:

Turn 1 Forest, Search for Tomorrow
Turn 2 Swamp,
Turn 3 Search library for Plains and put it into play, play another Plains, Dark Ritual, Identity Crisis

If you manage to mana-ramp to this quickly enough, it's the end of the game against most decks. However, this is not a card to simply toss into any white-black deck. Be careful.

4/5 because it's only useful in a deck that's quite set up for it.

I like this, but at that cost, I'm afraid there wouldn't be a whole lot for somebody to discard by the time I got to use it, and it would essentially just be an overly expensive Bojuka Bog.

Even though I use four Dark Ritual and four Fetid Heath in my main deck, I still think the chances of getting this into play soon enough for it to be cost-effective is too low, and that makes this very, very situational.

I love the flavor, art, and overall mechanic of this card, but at 2WhiteWhiteBlackBlack, I gotta say no to decking it.

Gotta agree...too spendy. I'll just play a discard deck and slap in some tormod's crypts

Beautifully balanced card. The effect, while initially seemingly devastating, grows less and less relevant as the game goes on. The casting cost presents a challenge to deckbuilders: how to get this card on the table while the opponent's hand is still fat enough to make this card worth it? By way of comparison, its CMC is twice that of Mind Rot, although this card does exile the graveyard as well.

Still, I wouldn't feel like I got my money's worth unless the opponent discarded at least three cards and was damaged by the loss of his graveyard in some way.

This is farily costed. Yes, technically its Magic and everything might as well cost 0 'in the right deck', but 6CMC in Enemy Colors is nothing sneeze at, and more difficult to cheat out, than say, Phyrexian Om Nom Nommer. (Obliterator)

Turn 1-3ing this is just dorky. Please don't, that's mean.
Finding a nice quick way to shave off a mana or two like Everflowing Chalice, and this is a complete bomb on turn 4-5.
If you're Joe Lucky and play with only basic lands, but actually hit Plains, Swamp, Plains, Swamp, Plains, Swamp as your first six land drops, then this is still a completely valid card to play. I wouldn't run more than 3 in a deck though.

It comes down to mana. There isn't a single player who'd say the effect is somehow bad. Its not Cruel Ultimatum, but its very fine indeed. Speaking of Cruel Ultimatum, playing this either before, after, or on the same turn as Cruel Ultimatum...

is a GREAT way to lose a friend forever. works every time xD

@ darkfury:

I believe you mean Evacuation. Reality Strobe is a nice card with this as well.

So this is made for a card game, right? Such that I and my opponent should be having fun while playing it, right?

When I see this I imagine a deck where my opponent spams Path to Exile and Doomblade culminate into a turn 5 or 6 fatty and this thing. Truly there is nothing for me to do but pray I can out aggro the relentless torrent of instant speed, low cost removal spells before this bomb smacks me in the face.

Similar problems exist with the current standard grixis control meta (Innistrad, first set). Galvanic Blast, Go for the Throat, and the number of counter spells in type hold the line for a Chandra, The Firebrand and Sorrin's Vengeance auto kill turn 7 and a very boring match.

I used this in an EDH game against my mate's Sharuum deck, removed a very health graveyard and a 7 card hand full of answers and basically knocked him out the game. Probably not the most efficient way to hate on a graveyard or hand but still a very satisfying card to use.

Fantastic (and cruel) combo with Devastation Tide. Worth looking into for an Esper EDH with strong bouncing, or group hug card draw.

In EDH, barring an incredible board position, this just knocks someone out of the game. It also ruins friendships, so yeah. No one ever wants to take one of these in multiplayer.

This is about the worst possible thing someone could do to you following up a wrath effect in edh. Absolutely brutal.
