Not a bad card, since getting rid of your opponent's hand means they're unlikely to use removal on it.

Actually if the opponent isn't playing white, then theres not much that can remove this guy anyway; burn spells aren't going to be strong enough to kill it and its uneffected by most black removal.

Pretty awesome. Not only does it get around the inherent card disadvantage of the Devour mechanic, but also solves the problem of your devouring creature being a huge target for removal if you can make them discard their whole hand.

Lim-Dul the Necromancer, ressurect your opponent's creatures under your control and nom them with your Tar Fiend, merry Christmas you now have a 4+2x/4+2x, your opponent has no cards in hand, and you've dealt 2-224 damage to them(you are running 4 megrims and 4 liliana's caresses right?).

Once ran this guy in a B/G/R deck. So many tokens. I think I just stopped devouring at 7. Believe me, an 18/18 plus opponent losing their whole hand for 6 is pretty fun.

The only mono-black creature with devour. Additionally, there is only one other black creature with the devour keyword: the black-green Marrow Chomper. I find that surprising.
As one of the two black creatures with Devour (and the only Mono-Black one), I was pleasantly surprised at his effect. 6/6 and a discard for 6 and a creature is already decent for black, and the ability to sac a decent chunk of your field for a total discard and a phenomenal creature is totally amazing. Throw in an immunity to everyone's favorite removal spell Doom Blade and an absurdly flexible mana cost, and you have a solid card for any deck that enjoys tossing things into the graveyard. I am very surprised it didn't show up in the Izzet vs. Golgari duel deck.
