Much conversation on the board seemed to pop up about this guy. Personally I like the design and think the art is great and while I don't think he'll do much in the constructed environment this guy is a complete bomb in limited. For that reason alone I feel he deserves to be mythic, which seemed to be where some controversy settled around this card. He also feels very "Esper" to me.

Oooh, I can see it now, play him for free with the Master Transmuter and then go bonkers with his abilities. I could really see myself playing this one a lot in the future.

Dies to both artifact and creature removal. Still a great card, with fitting mana cost and powerful abilities.

Yeah, it can die really quick to singe or mass removal, and since it's destroy ability would have summoning sickness, you may not even get to use it once if you're unlucky....mine got Terminated before summoning sickness wore off, so I replaced it with Child of Alara.

That was supposed to be Royal Assassin. Not surprising it decided to censor something that repeats the same three letters twice.

he's got a built-in Mortify!

If the only problem is keeping it in play that doesn't seem so hard, its a really amazing card for only 5 mana. Anything that can give it shroud provides you with creature removal for the rest of the game. I also really like that it says enchantment removal as well, because since zendikar we have all these ascensions now. I don't want to be stuck playing against someone using bloodchief ascension when it goes active and have no removal for it. It's defintley a multi tasker.

**cough avatar of woe cough royal assassin cough Visara the dreadful

I suppose the untap ability is useful but way over-costed. esper would do much better with any of the sphinxes.

Not bad in Esper deck. Does have a big target on it's head. Gotta love the artwork.

On his second turn out you're doing at least 8 damage with this baby. Sweet. Even sweeter is to think how your two Etherium Sculptor's will probably let him in for 2U instead of 4U!!!

lol i'm just glad the Vedalken are back in the game, and indeed, they have returned once more to cast justice upon the unrulely merging planes... with flying, enchantment removal, creature killing, and untapping going, what more could you ask him to do?...

Great finish card, Great Art, Great Flavor, Great Effects...

I love this card. I don't really see why nobody uses him... probably because no one playes Esper. Yeah he's slow, but he has to be removed eventually or he will ruin your opponent's board then starting hitting for 4.

hah, the only flaw with artifacts is that they are easy prey for naturalize or shatter

With a Training Grounds in play this becomes "WhiteBlack, Tap or WhiteBlueBlack: Kill something."

This card is great in my artifact deck. Easy removal you say? How easy is it when I use Master Transmuter to put out Darksteel Forge on the fourth turn, then play this on the fifth? Throw in a Leonin Abunas, Metallurgeon,Lightning Greaves, Sanctum Gargoyle for if someone actually does manage to remove it...
Artifacts by themselves are easy to destroy, but with all the ways to protect them, pretty soon this guy is nuking your field, and there's nothing you can do about it :)

This is quite the commentary; it reminds us that our own weapons are so devastating as to be a deterrent to war without ever being fired. If this is a good thing or a bad thing, you'll have to decide for yourselves.

I leave it entirely to you.

God this artwork is badass.

Excellent card, I agree with the people saying he's vunerable being an artifact creature (and mono-blue on top of it, if he was black/blue all the doomblade type stuff wouldn't work on him), but his kill ability is REALLY powerful for his cost. If you're running Esper, you may have an Unbender Tine which cicumvents the relatively high cost of untapping him. Blowing almost any creature away for 3, and then doing it again for 3 more is pretty insane.

Once you get him out he just owns the board. It is so unfair I love it. I never really use the untap ability. As for being mythic, probably not but I know my brother hates him so I like him even more. 4*

Problem is, I don´t get his flavor. Those seem to be just some random abilities.

A huge metal flying knight that kills anything that stands in its way, AND THEN KEEPS KILLING. This is an awesome card. My opinion.

A good bit of fun, especially in slower casual. Not hard to get out with Etherium sculptors or the myriad ways to cheat him into play, and the ability to continuously dole out Mortify? A solid creature.

Funny- even though Black is normally bad at killing enchantments- worse than anyone else except Red-

It just seems to me like specifically White + Black ought to be better at it than any other color pair- including even White + Green. Does that make sense?
Sort of a 'Light Side + Dark Side = Destroy the Force' kind of logic?

Cuz really, White and Green generally don't like the word 'destroy' at all. Black loves Destroy though, so it more quickly adapts to killing stuff if you give it another color to work with than White or Green would.
Although recently, it seems they have decided to push 'Fangorn Green' -see cards like Bramblecrush

@desolation_masticore: I'm pretty sure it's the guy riding the big gargoyle thing that's a knight.

4Blue for a 4/4 flying is already good as far as blue creatures go. 2Blue to give it pseudo-vigilance is admittedly a bit expensive, but if you play esper and can activate the first ability at least once, this card can be a real powerhouse.

His frumpy face looks like Karn Liberated with a severe underbite.

Attack.
End turn.

They go to attack
Untap, Block.
Tap after declared blockers, Destroy another target attacking creature.

I like him.
