Land destruction is a horrible mechanic -- made even worse when printed as a sweeper. If a player looses because of a poor deck design, then so be it. But scooping all lands basically chokes the game play down to a boring standstill. Now that's moronic.

Its not always a moronic decision to clear the baord of lands; it can be quite useful if the caster has more advantage than any of the other opponents. This card can be a crucial weapon in any white EDH deck, but in other formats I would agree with you Largo68, the game would become a boring standstill.

oh but both of you are wrong, if you have this card in your hand you should be trying to get your hand full of lands while your opponent puts all of his lands in play, after this card is played you ready to bust out lands while your opponent is doomed. :)

With proper use, this is simply great, especially after crippling your opponent by killing most of their creatures. With improper use, this will simply make everyone hate you.

yea when played right, this card is awesome. more so when you save up your hand with lots of lands, and have something in play that limits lands limited resources comes to mind

As much as I love this card, it's more-or-less banned in all casual formats we play. Multiple comments from the community stating the negative effects on the game, and unless you're the one who casts it, they're absolutely right.

((Multiplayer game of 6 people, 7th turn and everyone has 7 lands in play)) ((Your turn comes around again)) You: "That's seven mana floating. Armageddon." Yeah, bad things are bound to happen to you after that.

or as an alternative to crucible of worlds, something such as Plow Through Reito. with low cost and land returning effect, it adds a punch to an already powerful blow
Land Tax!!! You just choose to keep 3-5 lands in your hand while your opponent has none or use it and then land tax if your opponent plays a land, maybe not as good combo as with crucible of worlds but I think land tax is a better card than crucible of world in general, but run both cards than it isn't a problem either if you have to discard some land because of land tax.

My Favorite Sorcery ever, won me more games than I can count.
The cards this works with are endless...Lodestone Bauble is the perfect soothing remedy for your self-destruction.
Dingus Egg is the perfect compliment, and an original finisher. If your opponent has five lands out, when an Armageddon comes...he dies. Did I mention it's ALL your opponents?I've personally ended a game turn 8 vs 9 opponents this way.
T1: forest, mana dork T2: plains, KoR T3: land, 'geddon, swing for 6, opponent is mad, bro.
Or,
T3: tap and sac land to KoR, play land, Land Tax, 'geddon, you have a tapped 7/7, and even if opponent top-decks Swords to Plowshares, you get three cards out of the deal.

And that doesn't even factor in fetch lands...
