An interesting card. Good synergy with Leviathan when you run out of ways to use it.

While not the best card around, this has a lot of potential with Coat of Arms.

Ignoring colored mana requirements (since I'm not actually building this deck; assume some filter if you must) and using Homarid Spawning Bed, Scornful Egotist (as my general, assuming he was legendary) and Ashnod's Altar...with a face up Egotist on my turn...

Mana Floating (after actions taken): Actions Taken

-3 Mana Floating: Sac Egotist; get 8 Homarids.
13 Mana: Sacrifice your Homarids.
4 Mana: To get Egotist Again. Sac for 8 Homarids.
20 Mana: Via Sacrificing the Homarids
9 Mana: To replay egotist and sacrifice.
25 Mana: Via Sacrificing the Homarids.
12 Mana: To replay Egotist and sacrifice.
28 Mana: Via sacrificing the Homarids.
13 Mana: To replay Egotist and sacrifice.
29 Mana: Via sacrificing the Homarids.
12 Mana: To replay Egotist and sacirfice.
28 mana: Via Sacrificing the Homarids.
9 Mana: To replay Egotist and Sacrifice.
25 mana: Via sacrificing the Homarids
4 Mana: To get Egotist Again and sacrifice.
20 Mana: Via sacrificing the Homarids.
-3 Mana: To get Egotist again and sacirifice.
13 Mana: After sacrificing the Homarids.

That's pretty neat. See the pattern(s)?

Not as terrible as you'd expect for something pertaining to homarids.

I just like the fact it creates something other than Homarids, despite the name. Are Camarids the juvinal name for Homarids? That would be like sacrificing a "tiger" card to put "kitties" into play... talk about flavor winning over sanity, but whatever. At least this thing was a good way to eat all those awful, huge blue creatures that existed back then: Sea Serpent, Island Fish, Elder Spawn, Leviathan, etc.

Steal your creature, turn it blue, Sac it, get tokens. 5 outta freakin' 5.

I built a deck around this and Mass Polymorph when 2011 came out.

Basically the deck gets Avatar of Will, Errant Ephemeron or Maelstrom Djinn out, sacs it for a pile of tokens, then Mass Polymorphs the tokens into crazy stuff like Progenitus, Stormtide Leviathan, or... whatever you want, really. For a while I just polymorphed into and Elder Spawns, just for the lulz / thematic cohesion. It is a Spawning Bed, after all.

You can speed it up with Show and Tell, and it's even possible to go sort-of-infinite by mass polymorphing into Great Whale, Palinchron, and Snapcaster Mage (to recur Mass Polymorph).

So. Much. Fun.

Actually pretty nice card out of fallen empires. And it reminds me of crab people from south park. Any kind of +1/+1, maybe glorious anthem, becomes really nice with this. Coat of Arms becomes extremely deadly. A nice way to go is to keep 3 mana open and respond to single target removal with this ability.
