Although this doesn't work to get back cards used to pay for Dredge abilities, (Since they're sent from your deck to the graveyard and this effect only retrieves cards sent to your graveyard from play) this card works well with sacrificial cards. Regardless it's still 6 mana for a 6/6 Trampler with an ability that's still fairly useful in any deck.

This card does crazy things with Evoke costs. Even without that, it's an amazing card, especially since it functions as a usefull, if a little slow, green attack creature and brings cards back to your hand.

I feel like you could combo this out with Doomgape ....
A serious contender for the high position of "Zulp's Favorite Card Ever". The only reason I wouldn't run four in any deck of its colors is because it would push the mana curve too far. Amazing synergy within its own guild and far beyond. Great concept and execution on behalf of the designers.
Also, I'm surprised no one's mentioned Grave Pact yet.

Combos with any sacrifice card. Looks beast. Also a tank by itself; I can't tell you how many times I've sent it attacking in a Timmy glee and seen it Devouring Light-ed or something, but it always makes an impressive hole even if it dies. The Insect creature type needs more love like this.

even without the second ability, a 6/6 trample in for 6 mana is pretty good for monoblack

I have shoved him in a deck based around Grave pact and nantuko Husk. I sacrifice my creatures than return them to play. Also works well with symbiotic wurm.
Combine that with Attrition after obtaining enough forces and you can basically wipe the field

actually it barely synergizes withGroundbreaker.. note groundbreaker says at the end of turn, sacrifice it. this is only at the end of your turn. So yeah, awesome, you get him back on your turn and can block with him. but at the end of your opponents turn he dies and you dont have a groundbreaker.

@TheSwarm, Gleancrawler make groundbreaker back in your hand, and not back into play.
So you can keep it until your next turn and attack with again and again.
I liked this card to pair up with Eternal Witness and skullclamp.
Can also abuse Sneak attack. Cast Gleancrawler and say Dragon Tyrant for 1 red mana each, and both get back in your hand at the end of the turn. Since all effect happen at the end of turn, and you control both effect, you put them on the stack in the order you want.

does evoke work with its ability? if so Inner-Flame Acolyte is gets =+2 and haste Edit: oh only once a turn you could still make a strange deck with it red and green maybe black or black and green Shriekmaw is a good option

Good chance it would have been mythic rare had it been released in a later set. The possibilities. My mind is boggling. Boggle boggle boggle

Any Card with envoke for the win. Reusable spells for the win. Loving it.

ok I NEED this card for my deck, I usually sac several creatures every turn, and even though I usually get them all back this card would just make it so easy.

I read its type as "Incest Horror" at first. It does look like the result of that...
So damn strong even without any combo cards. Good beater.

1. Gleancrawler on the field 2. Play Sadistic Hypnotist 3. Sadist sacs himself 4. Opponent discards two 5. End step, Sadist returns to your hand. 6. Rinse, repeat.
This will not win you friends, hey, an auto two card sac each round is efficient.
