This card is only effective if your playing land destruction with it. That way your opponent will have a much more difficult time trying to decide whether or not to sacrifice the few lands that they have remaining in play.

Unless it's late-game, this is very usefull. I would almost never sacrifice a land to it, because that would only keep it away for one turn. If your opponent is forced to sacrifice a land every turn, they'll have a hard time doing anything. With Magus of the Vineyard, play it second turn. Very good time to have it.

Either get a 6/6 with Trample or destroy the opponent's opportunity to play spells, repeatedly, for 4.
Awesome!
It's just a little slow for my taste, almost unable to draw new cards for awhile.
To me, it looks better in red: Shivan Wumpus.

Just for giggles, check out the Rulings text. The WHAT stays on the field, now?

It's great when it works, but if your opponent has a better board position than you, they can just sac a land and they know you're not getting anything new next turn. If you don't have enough blockers, you can really take a lot of damage by the time all that land loss evens it out. Also a dead draw late game. Great on turn 4 though. Just great.

Green can easily get this out turn 3, which should really put your opponent in a tough position.

Much better than it's red clone imho.

Smashy smashy. I like this card a lot.

Far older and better then the Shivan Wumpus. I remember the classic Wurmaggeddon decks. This wurm is a beast no pun intended. Wish they would reprint this soon.

Fun agreesive card, he is more powerful in land destruction decks but he is pretty solid on his own.

A very solid card if used right. It's a big baddie for cheap with almost no drawback. Sure it can get bounced to the top of your library but that merely stalls the game for only so long; your opponent loses land or you get a sweet early game 6/6. Works either way for me, frankly.

He looks very sinister.

Keep a Conundrum Sphinx in play, and every time you attack with it you get it back and don't have to sacrifice a draw.

A little rough since it goes on top of your library, but a Bloodline Shaman could help you get some nice card advantage going. While you're at it, throw in some Urza's Incubator, and more wurms! Feels good to get in the red zone with several of the gigantic bastards.

I love Kev Walker's use of forest lighting and composition in this art.

Not bad late game with Wild Pair and Garruk's Horde.

And in my green fatty decks, i usually would have enough land to repeat the process a few times in a turn

Powerful shit. 4 CMC is pretty cheap for 6/6 trample, even in green today. Spammable land destruction, or powerful trampler. Tough choice to make for an opponent.

one of my early favorites, this card won me a lot of casual games for a long time. the high p/t with trample at 4cc is easy to put out turn 3 with green and will dominate the field unless your opponent throws down a removal. unless you're playing against a guy who is low mana-curve its effective throughout most of the game. i still use this guy as my mid-mana hitter for my casual all-green deck and have pumped him up to 18/16 for a turn 5 or 6 win more than once with good old stand-bys like ancestral mask, blanchwood armor, rancor, gaea's touch and wild growths to push it to field and pump it up fast.

I love this card! Land destruc'tion is its main purpose, and if no one wants to sac a land, then you have a sweet 6/6 trample for 3Green!

I will never regret playing this. It could eat some lands, hoover a removal spell or thump your woefully unprepared opponent into submission. Everyone I have ever played while using this has sacrificed lands the first time, then never again in any subsequent game. If he's not crying when the wurm is done with him, then your taunts and gloating weren't personal enough. Try something about his mother.

If you really want to troll someone, drop this, and follow up with Plow Under next turn.

Used to have a couple of these from boosters, and never really played them. Inexpensive big creatures that can ETB repeatedly can be interesting in an Evolve deck. Opponent has to choose whether to bounce your 6/6 trampler you just cast for four mana and have it come out and pump your other stuff again, or whether to just deal with him.

This card is great when paired with descendants path from avacyn restored.

The earlier this guy hits the battlefield, the tougher the choice is for your opponent. Also, the more pressure his 6/6 body puts on.
