I run him next to basal thrull to ramp out giant black "cast matters" demons (Reiver Demon, Dread Cacodemon)

Also helpful when you use a Twilight's Call, Living Death, etc... as you'll get ramping.. if you need it for some reason. I've found it useful next to Pestilence Demon when you need extra "kill everyone and everything" mana.
