If they don't call it while its in the air, have they just not complied with the rules and are now disqualified?

This card's rules still say that combat damage goes to stack :)

The gambit refers to the guy in the background sneaking up on Maraxus. The after math is in Debt of Loyalty

Really? That low? Use it on one of the X damage red spells that can't be prevented and you pay 1 mana to double a LOT of damage. Someone has 8 life left? 6 mana to finish them off, unpreventable uncounterable, or just half their life. It's not a BAD card, it just needs to be comboed.

Gerrard versus Maraxus? Awesome!

An average of 2 mana and 2 cards to double your damage is usually worth it. Combine with other coin flip cards and it's more than worth it. It only lasts until end of turn and may target permanents so if you plan well you can make sure you never lose damage. I'm surprised this card isn't rated very high.

Pshhhh Maraxus, with those muscles you wouldn't need to make any gambits, let alone desperate ones haha.

How fast was this errated? The way it is written it would mean that if I name my Pestilence and win, then the Pestilence will deal double damage until game ends or it's destroyed. If I lose it wouldn't deal any damage the rest of the game.

I use this with Unstable Footing, that way I still get to burn the player for 5 even if my flip fails XD of course leyline or even Everlasting Torment would work

Oh what the lolz. I'm going to make a Coin Flip Deck.

And I'm going to call it "Wheeler and Deal", after Joey Wheeler, because this is the kind of retarded card he would definitely play, and somehow mise a victory every time with it. It's like Time Wizard, rofl!

A card that completely defines "Double or Nothing"

For one mana, this makes burn spells significantly more interesting, but because it prevents the damage about half the time, if you're playing against a deck that has a lot of counter spells, this can just save your opponent the trouble of countering half the time.

Malignus seems like the ideal target for this. If the flip lands in your favor, you're sending lethal at your opponent. If the flip doesn't land in your favor, Malignus's damage can't be prevented and you attack for half their life total.

Of course, there's already Berserk, Rush of Blood, Fatal Frenzy, and Soul's Might for Malignus, but that's beside the point.

Also, this card immediately precedes Debt of Loyalty chronologically. That's Starke of Rath in the background running up to kill Maraxus of Keld, the outcome of which we see in Debt of Loyalty. Neato!

If you have to ask why this card is awesome, you'll never get it.

It doesn't even need krark's thumb to kick ass. You take any source that deals 4 or more damage, cheaply so the whole process only takes 2 or 3 mana. Goblin grenade, fireblast, vexing devil, Thunderous wrath, Flame rift for the completely suicidal multiplayer, or just any creature hitting above it's weight class early on. ....or for the gambler's delight, there's booby trap.

And you take one more mana, and you flip a coin. You could cut the tension with a knife. There's 8-20 damage, riding on the outcome of this coin flip. Everyone tenses up, some might even pray at such a moment.

The whole situation is priceless. You either blew someone away, or you didnt. But the whole table is still going to cheer and groan. This card is a crowd pleaser.

Not a gambler? Lava burst. Excruciator. Demonfire, malignus.
