@Dack_Attack - Not possible. This card doesn't say "target player" it says "you". Cards like Deflection, Swerve and Redirect don't have any effect.

Could be pretty useful in burn-counter, where you're expending a lot of cheap cards. This would let you control your draw fairly well later on, though you have to be sure you'll have the cards to win it.

that seems like a really big effect for a 2 mana spell.

No one has mentioned Hive Mind yet. I guess since it's mentioned on pretty much every backfirey spell ever, no one felt the need.

Combo with Laboratory Maniac for some fun times win
Geez the power level of this card is so off the charts I don't know where to begin! What a crazy spell. I'm surprised it wasn't in Judgement or Odyssey. Crazy effect. 5/5 for just being bonkers.
Paradigm Shift + Dark Confidant + Cryptic Command = Jace, the Mind Sculptor. Take all the drawbacks off btw. (Paradigm Shift but target anybody, Dark Confidant but no life loss, Cryptic Command with more splashability. o.o )
There wasn't a direct 'permanent' card that is actually as good as Jace, besides like, lands and moxen, which don't exactly count. He's easily the best thing to hit with Dreadbore and will remain so for the rest of time, and that play is even better than Cruel Edicting an Emrakul (Pro Tip: chump block with Storm Crow and Darksteel Plate all day long XD)
Of all the non-Jace permanents to autocard to, I figure that despite mechanical dissimilarities, Dark Confidant evokes the correct vibe of power, card advantage wise, rarity wise, efficiency wise, and toughness wise. Yes "Technically" killable but good lord do those two win games like nobody's business. :P

A strange use for it would be for a burn deck. Lightning Bolts and Ball lightnings in your yard? Be assured your topdecks will pack enough punch to finish the job with this.
