This guy is just so silly. A 1/1 trampler. "I defy your puny logic!"

I love this guy for nothing more than having a removale spell in hand, opponit has 2 target of equal threat, swinging with this guy, having them laugh and block it, than blowing up their creature. "You still take one!"
Next game they triple blocked it to be safe, so I Venomous Breath the elf. It was beautiful.

With green, it's easy to give him +X/+X. Very cheep, efficient, fits in with what green does. Great.

You could have a lot of fun attacking with this guy and leaving green mana open... and watching your opponent not block for fear of a pump spell. Thanks for the free 1 dmg!

Though flavorfully it's like: "What."
Functionally he's pretty good.
Elves boost each other ALL the time, and green is full of pump.

ok wow. seriously? who in their right mind would use a 1/1 with trample? he CAN'T trample jack! there is no such thing as a creature with 0 toughness, they'd be dead. leaving ones that are a step up, the 1 toughness weaklings which will kill this guy off anyways. as for removal spells and boosters to go with it? do u REALLY wanna rely on the off chance you'll get those when u need them? no, if your looking for a low cost, good card find yourself a good llanowar elf. he's still an elf, and he'll get u set up for your reeally good cards like a pellakka wurm or primordial hydra. think about it people.

This guy is actually quite amazing. As for the comments stating he is "striktly worse then" other cards is probably one of the dumbest things you can say, especially if you play magic, mainly because the way Magic is designed, every card has a use, and personally, I don't care about Llanowar Elites ability, because, sure, that's a great little "oh, hey, it's late game, why not?" kind of ability, but all I have to say is Immaculate Magistrate, and of course, I am such a hardcore Green Mage, I also have to mention Doubling Season in there. I use this guy, and Llanowar Elite in the same deck. Why? Because it means I have not 1, but 8 possible chances to pull a creature with trample, and as long as my opponent isn't playing something with Banding to stop that trample, I am probably going to beat-them-to-death with one of these guys. Also, I use him in my White\Green token deck because of the wonderful, (and now totally broken) Concerted Effort. Turn 1, this guy or the Llanowar Elite, Turn 2, Hover Myr, Turn 3, Etched Champion or Skyhunter Skirmisher, then Turn 4 Concerted Effort. Thanks to this guy and\or Llanowar Elite, all my creatures are now Flying, Vigilance, Trample, Double Strikes, or protected from all colors.

It isn't often you find a card that is, in fact, "strictly worse" than another card. As Forgeling has already pointed out, this guy is worse than Llanowar Elite. Often times, you see comments such as: "Time Elemental is strictly worse than Temporal Adept." While I can't think of many situations in which I'd rather have a Time Elemental than a Temporal Adept, the claim that Time Elemental is strictly worse than the adept is incorrect. The Time Elemental has a different mana cost, flying, and a different creature type. Nitpicking? Yes. In the case of Defiant Elf and Llanowar Elite, though, the term is applied correctly, making this card a humorous counterexample of power creep. Edit: @Tagvoar Llanowar Elite is still strictly better, unless we want to get into the Mind Control Argument. If you want to run a playset of both this and the Elite in your deck, more power to you. It still doesn't change the fact that the Elite has an extra beneficial ability that this card doesn't. Would you argue against me saying that Lightning Bolt is strictly better than Shock because you can run four shocks and four lightning bolts in a deck?

For a trampler, he's not very...trample-y.
Just a joke, of course. Green is full of power sources. Just, it's also full of trample. Wouldn't something else have been more useful? Not bad, at least...

@Forgeling - Almost strictly worse, if you were to kick Llanowar Elite it would become a 6/6 which would open it up to cards like Smite the Monstrous

This is actually not too bad of a card in the right decks, and elves love pumping each other up so it shouldn't be that hard to find a spot for it. Nevertheless, I still get a chuckle out of the silliness of the idea.

I understand you are meant to buff him to get use from the trample. But this guy still makes me laugh at a glance.
Why stop here? How about a Defender with Vigilance? A Flyer with Reach? An Infect creature with Wither?

@TDL: Llanowar Eilte is only better at late game. And even still, G can do way better than a 6/6 trampler for 9, i.e. a 1/1 trampler for 1. Or you slap on Giant Growth, and you have a 4/4 trampler for 2. #ratios
@Arahael: re-read Llanowar Elite and take note of the "may" in the reminder text. Kickers are optional.
