You didn't pay tribute? Cruel Ultimatum. Serves you right.

Red minotaurs are nuts in this set. Fanatic of Mogis is one of the best red deck winners if you play creatures, and this guy is either 5 damage to the face or something much, much worse. 4/5

As a Johnny who is paranoid regarding the existence of other Johnnies, nothing short of an empty hand and exiled library will sway me from paying the Tribute on this guy. Nothing.

I want to play him in a deck with Obliterate!

Haste as a 5/3 at 4 cmc or take a chance. I like it.

Almost always a 5/3 haste, consider that your opponent more likely than not would be concerned about what's in your hand. A sorcery/instant cast is often far worse than a 5/3 haste creature.

Very nice use of tribute, overall red got the best end of the mechanic. Want to make your opponent sweat over a tribute? Make the alternative the risk of the unknown.

I don't know. The card is weird. Normally you'd want to use it's ability to play huge gamechanging spells. But those don't fit to a deck playing 3/1 guys with haste. That seems more like an aggro deck. Which doesn't want it's hand clumped up with huge spells you often can't play. Still a fun card.

If you don't respect him, he might just Enter the Infinite.

Read the Bones for flavor.

I have a feeling that getting five power worth of damage to the face is almost always preferable to the shenanigans that players could execute with a free spell. This is going to wreck some face, either way.

Look at his art. xD
It's almost whimsically taunting.

Go ahead. Give him the counters. I'll just Doom Blade him anyway :)
jk

In all seriousness, this guy is nuts. I run a red/black deck that's just minotaurs and removal, which plays surprisingly well against anything that packs less removal than I do. This guy makes it that much better, and I finally have no more need to play Borderland Minotaur anymore because he almost always comes out with 1 more power AND haste. 5/5.

This is one of the better tribute cards, and fits perfectly with red. So far, nobody has paid the tribute and everybody wishes they had. Most of the time I've had a heavy hitter burn spell, though once I used Portent of Betrayal as my free sorcery.

Definitely one of, if not the best tributes. Haste makes him less susceptible to the "dies to removal" problem of the others and makes the decision harder.

I like the effect, but who would risk not paying the tribute? I see him as a 5/3 haste for 4, and that's unfortunately not that impressive.

Only and idiot would not pay the tribute for this guy. Even Rise to the Challenge for free is not bad, while the chance of you holding a Flurry of Horns or some even bigger sorcery/instant is definitely something you don't want. As long as you have cards in hand this gets to be 5/3.
