Where a 6/6 Reach creature for 5 CMC in the color that can easily puke it out T3 which can become 9/9 and swat Angels, Demons, Dragons and Archons is... totally unappreciated. :(

Hey, it's the mana cost Thragtusk would have been balanced at.

"The creature is undercosted" @Trygon_Preadator: it has 2 more stats than double its CMC and reach can take care of fliers (Green mortal nemesis) that alone makes a good card, I don't think the colorwieght was need though..

Anyone who thinks this card is undercosted and bitches about power creep, please see Leatherback Baloth, a card that never saw competitive play, because although it has a high P/T to cost ratio, it's in mono-green, the colour that often struggles against removal, which every other colour has.
And what do you notice about the mana cost of this card, Arbor Colossus? That's right, it goes in a predominantly green deck, and so will be difficult to play effectively for the same reason.
So for god's sake people, stop equating high P/T with power creep, especially in mono-green, the colour of powerful creatures!
On a side note, it's a major fashion disaster to wear a dress when you're approximately 100 meters taller than everyone else. What exactly do you imagine they'll be looking at??

Monstrosity seems to be Scavenge 2.0. The creatures are undercosted (here, 5 CMC for a 6/6 Reach) with a hefty Monstrosity cost that commonly has an added bonus. Like Scavenge, it can be used once only, but unlike it, it can be reset if the creature leaves and returns, and it comes with extra benefits. You can also use it at instant speed, so you can empty excess mana at the end of your opponent's turn, or in the middle of combat.
I think I like this mechanic better than Scavenge. We'll see how well it plays at the prerelease.
E: I'm not complaining about powercreep, I'm saying the mana coat is good.

Can we just get a onedrop G creature with 2/2 already?

Power creep is towering these days.
@OrgasmandTea: not being played does not mean it's not powercreep. Hell, Wolfir Silverheart didn't get much constructed use and it's blatant powercreep.

No, because that would make mono-Green able to do weenie stuff. I was disappointed Kalonian Tusker couldn't have been 4/3, though. Seems weird that GG doesn' get bigger than WG.
I played this in Limited and even managed to set off its monstrosity cost, even though it cost six mana and my opponent wasn't running flyers. I would expect this to be an issue a lot with this creature actually, in a format where there are very few good targets for its monstrosity ability. I feel like this could have been an uncommon and no one would have batted and eyelash. I know power creep is real and I hate it more than the next person. But a big semi-vanilla fatty that is aggressively costed isn't going to be winning any games. As was mentioned, Vorapede is miles ahead of this guy in playability.

@Lord_of_Tresserhorn : I agree with this. BUT, this is both a positive and a negative thing. Negative because, as you've said, good cards like this aren't seen as "good enough" whereas they're totally fine. Positive because, well, as Auriok Salvagers would say, cards that are deemed of minimum worth by some are very welcome to others who aren't as privileged/have as high standards.
As for the card, a very good stand-alone card, particularly useful in green which lacks defense against flying (I mean green has a reputation of being ANTI-flyer, but this card can rid you of those without hating on flyers too much).

People REALLY don't understand the word "powercreep." Wow.
It seems any card with a name related to "Arbor" is a good card!

It's a cmc 5 6/6 with a static, activated, and triggered ability. All three of which are relevant in mono green. Also pretty much exactly the card I would want to play the turn after Nylea, God of the Hunt as you most likely already had 1 G on the board making Nylea come alive and attacking freely that turn, and next turn your colossus is a possible 9/9 trampler that just took out the threat it would have otherwise needed to stay available to block.
It may not be splash-able but it's still a fine card for a mono green deck at 5.

I don't understand why this is rated so low. It's a 6/6 for 5 which comes out turn 3 or 4 since it's green. It lets you swat desecration demons for christ's sake. If you think about it you don't even have to sac him to kill one either. Lets say your opponent gets one out on turn 4. If you get him out on turn 3 you can just make him monstrous turn four and kill the demon. And if you still think this guy is bad just take a look at Anthousa, Setessan Hero.

It's good, sure, but it's boring. In practice, it's just Yet Another Big Green Creature, that can occasionally screw over a flyer.

It's a colossal problem for your opponent and the answer to a few problems at the same time (flyers, removal, fatties, devotion). And he comes out one turn after your opponent threw their doom blade on Polukranos.

A 6/6 for 5 that has the potential to reach 9/9 and kill a creature the following turn — which, since you're playing green, is likely turn 4 or 5 — and it's not even at 3.5/5? Come on now, what more do you want?!

Finally a green creature with cmc 5 which isn't just a punching bag against Baneslayer Angel.
Took 4 more years for green the creature color to reach same level of powercreep with white. Perhaps that is why people are not very impressed.
