Why the low rating? This is easily the card I'm most excited for. It pays for itself by giving you one of their cards and it is never useless since even if they have a hand full of nothing you can still target their graveyard. 5/5 From me.

If you take it from their hand it's a nice two for one and even if you don't this is fun as bojangles.

Dimir is bored playing with its own deck. But YOUR deck looks fun...

I want to do awful things with this and the likes of Radiate and Reiterate, maybe Melek and Mirari, in a Grixis EDH deck. Awful, awful things.

An interesting take on Sen Triplets EDH- Especially since that nifty mana clause at the end couples the effects of the former, with that of Mycosynth Lattice (to be clear: avoiding the mana restriction, of red and green in these colors) in one convenient package. Even more appealing is it dips into graveyards AND unlike Sen, you can choose to cast this card at your leisure (it doesn't disappear at "end of turn" like Grinning Totem) akin Praetor's grasp.

Though I personally prefer grasp as its cheaper, and dips into their whole deck. Still, this card is a welcomed addition which offers a plethora of versatility, surpassing similar, previous installments in this archetype.

What won this card for me is the "from that player's graveyard OR hand".
Admittedly it's costy (plus you have to pay for the spell you've removed afterwards), but the optionality is just so good that I think it's quite fair.
I mean, you can basically use this to make him discard a card that matters (something that'd really be a nuisance to you for example, well you can use it against him now) or just plainly steal something very useful from his graveyard (after all, you're playing with Dimir colors, it shouldn't be too hard to mill your opponent)

This card is so friggin cool. I can't wait to pick up a couple of these. To break it down for anyone who overlooks this card without really finding its usefulness, here's everything it does:

1. Allows you to see the opponents hand.
2. Can cause them to essentially discard a card.
3. Allows you to cast that card, even if you don't have the right colors.

This can deal with a huge threat, and then turn it against them. Considering how huge creatures are in this set, we can assume that by turn 5, they're still holding onto something. Then, they even included a failsafe as a bonus; you can target their graveyard.

Beautiful art and design, and I'll definitely be high picking these for the coming months.

It's a great card, as many others have pointed out. It seems that after giving dimir the short end of the stick in Return to Ravnica, they're finally giving it the toys it deserves in Theros.

This IS a kind of scary card. The mana cost is prohibitive for how effective this actually will be in practice, but compare this to Praetor's Grasp and Thoughtseize.

WIZARDS: PLEASE. I hope you know well enough to be Very Careful with how you distribute certain effects around. Yes, I think Dimir kind of Wants/Needs a "I will play your own deck against you" theme a whole lot and for EDH? That's fine. Honestly? I NEVER want to see this strategy accidentally break through to Standard because it's sure to be F'ing Broken as Hell if you, say, lost your cool and made a Crazy Busted Mythic for 3 or 4 mana that did something really nuts.

Lazav thanks you, though. :) And I sort of am awaiting the inevitable, for cards like this to edge their way slowly into Legacy and Vintage because those formats, like EDH, are "Broken-Stupid-Crap-Friendly :D " That's still fine >:( Not even, as like, a deck? Just....even an individual card somewhere in this vein of thought is just about bound to become one of your "Oops, I Did It Again" mistakes XD

I wonder how strong cards like these will ever be in Modern and Standard though? This is NEW Design Space, so I am being logically very reserved and cautionary! But....keep making New Things! ^_^

I opened this in a sealed theros draft and said to myself "you know what? i'm running UB. i may as well give it a try* at least."

i went 2-1 with my only loss being against mono white heroic.

wanna know how i won those other 2?

first opponent, 1 i stole his Polukranos, World Eater. TWICE. in BOTH games. Mnemonic Wall was super helpful

second opponent? I used this to steal his Hero's Downfall. he lost Elspeth right after she hit play. sadface.

i honestly thought this card would be GARBAGE in sealed. but it not only won me a game, it won me 2 full MATCHES. this card is incredible and i love it.

Solid card, it was very amusing to have this in my hand when my opponent used Steam Augury during the pre-release. He must have been really confused about why I let him take the pile with Dissolve in it, until I played this against him on the next turn to steal it from him.

Could this have been costed at {2}{U}{B}?
It feels like a 5 mana Thoughtsieze with a little Diluvian Primordial/Sepulchral Primordial mixed in there, but that's just me.

What I like most about this card is the fact you can take and cast a nonland permanent. You're not restricted to creatures/instants/sorceries as usual. Nope, this time you're stealing even their planeswalkers. Good!
Sadly, a lot of planeswalkers are on the board by the time you cast this. Awww :(

I would love to discard an opponents Chromanticore with this.

"Wow, look at all the hard work you were doing trying to manafix yourself so you could cast this! Excuse me while I tap just tap these five islands..."

I wonder if I can actually cast lightning bolt over and over again... what about an infinite supply of memnites?

I wish they would of been more specific about types of cards. Like they would say what happens if it worked with instants or sorcery cards, because some people would think that this means they can use some instants and sorcery cards over and over again scot free like fog, searing spear, cancel.

This card is amazing in multiplayer and even has singleton constructed applications.

But I'm so *** sick of seeing it in my sealed pools.
