I like it. Most card that require you to do stuff at the beginning of your turn full on REQUIRE you-or else you don't get to use it. But this isn't crippled by not having Advocate of the Beast.

This new "names matter" mini mechanic is irritating. It reminds me too much of Yu-Gi-Oh. At least it's less stupidly restrictive.

This thing passes the vanilla test with flying colors. I hope to draft a lot of these guys in M14 Limited.

Having never played Yu-Gi-Oh, I enjoy the "names matter" thing. In this case it inspires multicolor decks, and in other cases they're just fun to play.

The "names matter" mechanic has been seen previously, here and there. See Kookus, for example.

Batterhorn's distant cousin?

It is a 4 mana 5/3. Not terrible for aggro decks and for limited will be a game changer with the Advocate of the Beast. Still... Woulda liked it to have 1 extra toughness. Woulda been a nice reminder of cuddly 'lil Woolly Thoctar.

Why not just play Juggernaut? They are essentially the same card, except Juggernaut is an artifact (which is mostly a benefit), can't be blocked by Walls (however minor a benefit that is), and doesn't need a Green card (when it requires a heavy commitment to Red) to lose a minor drawback that, frankly, doesn't need to be lost.

Thragtusk stats that can be cast before Thragtusk. Without the Advocate this is still fine, because you'll most likely be attacking anyway.

Fine for limited. For constructed it's meh.

There's no way he can fit through that canyon.

Red really shouldn't have gotten such an efficient beater for Limited.
I consider this a VERY high pick in Limited, as 5/3 for 4 in red is just ridiculous.

Love that art. I prefer it when Magic uses creature types rather than specific card names for these kind of jobs, like the Kamigawa Demons/Ogres relationship. I'm not against name referrals, but I prefer them not at common.

With Advocate of the Beast, Enchantments and Trained Condor this beast is never just a 5/3 for 4 that attacks every turn. This beast is a juggernaut.

This 8 total power/toughness is actually quite efficient for a 4 CMC red creature. Compare to the green Rumbling Baloth which has the same total Power/Toughness, where green is supposed to the color with the most cost-efficient creatures.

Pump combat tricks and bloodrush love these attack every turn types. 5 power is too much for most decks to just let through so it's going to be up to them to decide on their risk. It can be very easy to trade up or 2-for-1 with a creature like this. You will want a few hexproof instants with this strategy to keep yourself from getting screwed though, ranger's guile can work perfectly.
