historically for drakes, and common black fliers, this is actually pretty good. in black 2/1 for 3 with flying is normal, so 2/3 is great since a 2/1 with flying shouldnt be blocking much anyways

What badass art. Sadly its only on an average card.

It seems like a terrible card. Just remember that there aren't that many 3-toughness flyers floating around in Limited, so this guy will be harder to kill that you think.

Keep in mind that Rakdos players would love any sort of evasion, and that the decision to make it 2/3 was very deliberate. You can fly into Wind Drakes and Skylashers all day without consequence. A 3/2 would die easily and wouldn't trade up enough for the reduced toughness to be worth it, and we're lucky enough that this creature possesses greater stats than the hallmark Wind Drake.

one of my favorite cards in the set because it was a genuine surprise, and cuteish. :) I was mostly actually expecting retarded things like Dragonshift and Progenitor Mimic. When you've been in the game long enough, you start appreciating Spoiler Season as much for Commons and Uncommons as for Mythics and Rares- every set's Mythics and Rares will seem splashy and awesome for a while, but when you notice yourself really caring about how they Design and Develop non-Rares, even if you don't specifically play much Limited, you are making the decision to care about how long will the game be able to continue being itself and fun and cool. Good-Balanced Commons that you can't really make yourself throw away even if you don't shuffle them up outside Limited are what makes the game survive year after year. :)
I ended up playing this guy a lot at the prerelease, and I always wished he was a Wind Drake instead...especially when someone slapped a Stab Wound on him. :( If he was a 2/1 with Unleash, he'd be good. As a 1/2 he's not a good blocker, and as a 2/3 he's not aggressive enough. I'll be avoiding this guy at all costs in future Limited games. :)

definitely should have been a 2/1 or 2/2. Why would I want to pay 3 for a 2/3 flyer that can't block when I can easily pay the same to get out Vampire Nighthawk who is a 2/3 flyer with deathtouch and lifelink AND it can block? Sure I guess this could synergize well with Nighthawk if you keep Nighthawk for a blocker and this for attacking but otherwise I see not a lot of use for it.

The obvious problem is you've got a creature who's got higher toughness than power for an ability that is slightly better with a higher power (like Gore-House Chainwalker). It's like how Archweaver has both Reach and Trample. It's like it's a Jack of all Trades, but master of none. Dead Reveler suffered from a similar fate.
However, a Black flyer isn't bad at all, especially in limited, and dealing with a 2/3 in the air is going to be a little bit more difficult than just plopping down a Towering Indrik.

Insane art. Could easily pass for a mythic rare or a super secret ultra gold rare card in yugioh. seriously, look at some of the art in other ccgs. then look at this. AND it's a f***n common. easiest 5/5 ever given.
