Beautiful reprint. I just miss it's sister, Mortify

"It needs another version! REPRINT IT AGAIN!!"
And no one complained in the slightest.

One of the finest uncommons in the entire game, methinks. Very happy to see this.

They just reprinted this in the duel deck with alt art, now again? I love it!

My favorite removal spell, reprinted in Standard? Aw, Wizards, you shouldn't have!

Great at pushing Murder strait out of standard, as well as generally being one of the greatest uncommons of this set.

And so Wizards reprinted one of my favorite removal spells. And I was happy.

It'll make the Duel Deck slightly less valuable for a bit, but don't get ahead of yourselves:
Akroma, Angel of Wrath was in Time Spiral (Timeshifted), and Duel Decks: Divine. This might not be a foil Legend, but looking at the price graph of Akromas, it makes sense to remember that Duel Decks prints are somewhat scarcer than Set Releases.
A year or so after the Walmarts stop carrying Izzet vs. Golgari, that Putrefy will probably still be quite valuable.

Well, it did NEED better art.
Did you notice each guild got a classic reprint in Dragon's maze? (but can you spot them?)

Man, are they pushing Golgari or what? Always nice to see this, each version with new art.

Arguably the best removal spell in the block, when you consider mana cost, effect and rarity. 5/5 for limited and a justifiable first pick.

Golgari creatures know how to regenerate... And how to stop regeneration as well...

I love seeing Putrefy being reprinted, but it makes me so sad that there's no Mortify.

I hate to be the lone voice of dissent here, but it seems to me that having Abrupt Decay and Putrefy is the same block seems a little redundant. How many g/b multi-purpose kill spells do we really need in one set?

Instant replacement for Murder in Jund. Looks like I have a new friend in Standard for the next few months. Or an old friend, I guess.
While no one may really use Golgari in standard, at least from my experience, I realise that running a deck with this and Golgari Charm equals: anti-enchanment, anti-artifact, anti-boardwipe, anti-weenies and anti-regenerate. That's a lot of versatility from only two cards, and saves space from your sideboard.
All in all, lovely to see a reprint of a simple Golgari removal spell.

If you have the full art version of this card, you can have 4 different versions of the same card.
This card has always been a favourite of mine. The new art is really good too. 4.5/5

This is an extremely solid removal spell. It's pretty much impossible for Murder to make its way into any tournament deck that has G and B in it now, because casting one of each is much easier than double B, not to mention the additional flexibility of being able to destroy artifacts.

Strictly better than Murder if running B/G, correct? I'm not missing something?
Notice all these spells have some type of condition:
"Destroy Nonblack..."
"Destroy nonartifact..."
"Destroy monocolored..."
Murder, common, a pretty vanilla card but also good
Dreadbore, rare, great card in Jund Standard 2 mana removal at the cost of a sorcery
Hero's downfall, rare, 3 cmc at sacrifice for instant speed and a nice upgrade from murder.
Here we have an uncommon 3 cmc that can get Artifacts, creatures, AND can't be regenerated. Now making it a rare from the beginning would have been a great idea but it's too late now. Still always kills me somehow 4/5 and if you get it in a draft it defines what deck you should run.

This is easily one of the top 10 targeted removals in the game, and even better than Vindicate overall in my opinion due to the speed difference. If you are running creatures of your own then killing a PW via creature damage is often possible when packing this. Sure it can't hit lands, but honestly in a tournament I would rather have instant speed that the option to kill a land.
Vindicate is a better card overall thought from my point of view, not because of tournament playability but because it is just so damn cool and iconic.
Putrefy is an easy 4.5/5

I'm a little sad that Murder has basically been render obsolete in most cases but I really love this kill spell. For one extra mana you get a Terminate that also hits artifacts?
