This guy will be an absolute monster in Limited. He never stays dead, and if you build right, he helps you scavenge other creatures onto him by milling them for you. So much to work with. Might even be playable in other formats, though his cmc might be a wee bit too high. But I'll be damned if that doesn't stop me.

He dredges himself straight to the battlefield. That's pretty cool.

Because there's no way they would reprint Dredge, but they wanted to show some love for the first Golgari mechanic anyway.

The Golgari never run out of threats. They just keep coming back for more.

A perfect example of a non-overpowered, fun as hell card.

Line this guy up with a Death Baron, and fling him at the opponent every turn.
Would make for a fun deck with stuff like Reassembling Skeleton. Not super-effective, but definitely fun.

Combos with Skullclamp. Then again, every creature does.

A good creature for "x fights y" cards. High power let's it take out a lot of critters and you probably *want* it to take a trip through the 'yard (more things for Dreadbridge Chant to work with, more Filth for your enemies to Drown In).

bfellow- no, actually I think you have something worth more than just a pithy "like" there! :D
Skullclamp is REALLY good with this, as in, probably better with this than it is with a good many creatures. ^_^ I will have to try it sometime.

It's not dredge, because dredge costs nothing to use. All of the interesting magic cards do things without the cost of mana, or have exceedingly small mana investments at the cost of something else (loss of life, sacrifice a creature, or in the case of original dredge: skip your draw step, etc)

REALLY looking forward to playing this! Sure it can't block, but if it did, it would be too much of a pain in the ass to handle. As such it can shave off a fifth of your opponent's total for a decent cost and can KEEP doing it even after a surprise Supreme Verdict!! Favourite card of the set so far methinks.

My Jund/Golgari Flayer/Graveyard decks love this guy... Pulled two at the prerelease with golgari/simic -- killed everything and synergies with every part green/black graveyard deck ever.

The art, the flavour, the cool abilities. This card is really cool. It's even only an uncommon. 5/5

This guy would be so useful if there were any one of several changes to him.
He could block. He could be "dredged" as an instant. His "Dredge" cost had less of a mana requirement. (I think he would have been fine for three mana) He could be regenerated. (at a cost, of course)
None of these are overpowered in the current meta, and all of them can fit the flavor of the card pretty well.
As he is, though, his screams to be built around go unanswered.

Such a neat card. I would not hesitate to run this fellow if his ability where instant speed.

Everybody's talking about how this guy could be tweaked to make him more playable, but honestly I love him as he is.
This guy is not a 4-of in any deck that I can think of. His purpose, as far as I can tell, is for you to run one or two of him so that he gets milled over during your regular strategies. Then after your hand has disappeared (likely fed to a Lotleth Troll somewhere down the line), you can tap out your extra mana and fill your graveyard with more creatures to Scavenge.
Getting a 4/1 creature out of the deal is just a bonus, and I'm totally happy with that. He has just enough power that your opponent will want block him, but he's so reusable that your opponent won't want to trade any of their creatures for him in combat.
I really love this guy, but not being able to block is just a deal-breaker for a 4cmc dredge :( Powerhouse in limited though, for sure

Its such a freaking cool card, but I just wish we could have gotten just that one more bit of value out of it, and its a big problem that he can't block. Then again, if you slap a Rancor on him...hmm, maybe he doesn't need to block.

This is one of my favorite cards ever, it is well designed and its foil is beautiful...
Good art, good relevant effect that works well for my Golgari self mill.

And I will four of it in my mainboard.
