ITS BACK IN STANDARD YES!

Will this see play to help with Delver? Maybe, but it still won't be that good. Still, with Evolving Wilds around this isn't that bad.

To be replaced in M14 with Urza's Glossary.
To be replaced in M15 with Urza's Table of Contents.
To be replaced in M16 with Urza's Thesaurus.

This is not quite as good as ponder and it is quite annoying that it (ponder) will cycle out in october ,but this card is Nearly as good in some situations .
1. it lets you arrange the top cards of your deck , to see if its wiser to mill yourself or to use a draw card
2. you will know what is coming up next draw , which might help you win the game .

If I knew how to rate cards on here I would rate it a 5 to balance out the other peoples' accidentally low ratings but I think that it deserves a 4

Set up your miracle cards with ease.

Will this see play in Standard? Possibly. But only if Delver continues to be a deck. Otherwise, the fact that you get card disadvantage, can't shuffle your deck, and could very well use this and still have five terrible draws ahead of you, is what makes this incomparable to Ponder.

Incredible miracle enabler. Better than Ponder for that purpose since you don't draw the card you put on top. I can see this being used to set up Temporal Mastery or Devastation Tide (or others) in many situations.

One of the best subtle meta-game flavor texts since Deep Analysis.

how could you NOT give this a 5? Don't you LIKE blue?

Aw, with Ponder out I was hoping for a Sleight of Hand. Much more suitable downgrade imo.

As someone has pointed out, this can be quite useful for miracle cards.
I was going to rate it quite poorly, before I saw that comment.
Even if it's not "the best" for that kind of deck, it still has it's place for a more budget version :)

No. This is not a Ponder replacement. This is junk. Come on Wizards, you can do better than this.

Ponder was overpowered to say the least, the fact that this digs deeper and doesnt cantrip balances it out, though i really wish it was sleight of hand that they printed instead, at least the card got you one in hand to replace itself... never-the-less blue mages will use this despite how much worse it was in comparison to ponder or preordain, and at least it works alright with thought scour if you dont like what you see coming next... perhaps ravnica will yield better turn 1 spells for blue planeswalkers...

Combos well with Thought Scour; as well as what alphagprime said, you can rearrange the top 5 cards of your library if Thought Scour is one of them so that Thought Scour sits on top of one or two useless cards.

This card is good with Augur of Bolas. Ponder wouldn't work with Augur of Bolas. Play this, sort your topdeck for Augur of Bolas and cast AoB.

So in the end, you kinda get Ponder , and a 1/3 for 1UU. Con is no creatures or enchantments and -1 for card advantage.

Ridiculously inferior to Ponder. If they wanted to create a nerfed version of Ponder, they should have either removed the cantrip or removed the optional reshuffle. Here they've done both. This will be a painful blow to Blue in Standard.

Telling Time is better. We live in a format with Ghost Quarter. Shuffling, your library does happen.

The lack of shuffling isn't so bad since Evolving Wilds is in the same set, but losing the cantrip really hurts.

I don't mind it missing the cantrip, I miss the part where you can shuffle your junk back into your deck if you pondered at junk. Heck I'd even be happy with
"{U} sorcery: look at top 3 cards of your library. You may exile those cards. If you don't , then put them back on the top of your library in any order. "
The fact that you are stuck with whatever you see makes me groan. I wouldn't play this card, not even in drafts.

The fact that Ponder let you shuffle the crap away and cantrip pushed it over the edge. This card, even if Ponder hadn't existed, is bad. Planning ahead 5 turns is stupid, and almost never goes the way you want. The last 2 cards are basically useless.

Looking 5 cards ahead is very valuable for a pro like me who can also plan 5 turns ahead.

I believe this could pair well with Thought Scour for library digging. Rearrange your top 5 so the two on top are your situational "trash". Toss Thought Scour to mill the first two and pick up the third and leave the other two waiting for you next turns or cantrips. It digs you further than Ponder, Preordain, and even Brainstorm. Of course it requires you to have both cards but in a vacuum where you would be running both cards anyway why not? You still dug down essentially 3 cards but it puts you nearly 3 turns ahead as well. That can't often be said by some of the other options.

EDIT: So I see a lot of people complaining. I like blue I really do. You can ask anyone I regularly play with. What I don't like is how uncompetitive it is by the shear fact that nothing can compete with it when you run things like Ponder and Brainstorm. Heaven forbid you have a little chance to the deck. I think this card is lightyear's better than its ilk. Its more "fair" (not to mention it fits very well with the Miracles). You may still get "trash" but you can put it off a few turns which is still better than what you would have if you weren't running blue at all AND if you consider that you get it without the drawback associated with black (sacing creatures or life) you have really NOTHING to complain about.

It should at least give you the option to shuffle. Just in case your not getting land for 5 turns.

Good for new players. The name gives you a hint about where this card shouldn't be used.

@WillyLovesRice
Please explain to me why ponder doesn't work with augur of Bolas? Because it seems like it does.

Aside from in a Melek, Izzet Paragon deck I just can't see what other people do in this card. In all the games I've played, this cost someone a mana for that turn and a card in their hand for no threat whatsoever.

Were it instant, I might find it an interesting card, you threaten a counterspell in your hand with open mana, should they not walk into it, end of their turn index. It would've made it more than just a bad Ponder, Brainstorm or Scry spell.
