Go to hell with that reprint.

2/5 at least for flavor text.

It's hard to make him playable, especially when your opponent is playing superior creatures. This guy has a home in intro sets that introduce the game to newer players though.

Lord of Tresshorn, your comment reminds me of everyone who thinks Searing Spear's flavor text is good.

When I look at it, I can only weep for Jaya Ballard's Incinerate quote.
Likewise, this flavor text is strictly worse to the M10 version.

Let's see.. yup, rated half a star in M10 and M12. Now to continue the trio of terrible ratings thusly!

From Gatherer's ratings I stab at thee!!!

The positive side of this card:
- Flavor text fits very well with the art.

A few negative points:
- CMC/P/T-Relation
- Reprinted without new art/flavor text since a while.

Whenever I play with new players, I actually enjoy using cards like this. Because I've been playing for such a long while, it's kinda hard playing as a new player against a new player, so I'm pretty much forced to use cards like this in order to make the game a little bit more fair.
That aside, at least this is better than Renegade Demon in terms of creature type, considering how zombie tribal's more popular than demon tribal. 0.5 for minimum, 0.5 for zombie creature type(common tribal), and 0.5 for giant creature type(tribal that exists). I give this 1.5/5 out of pity.

It is what it is. Might have a use in draft where a 4/3 generic still has a bit of clout. Although it would be filler perhaps even in draft.

Storm Crow smirks at you!

This serves 2 purposes

1) Filling up your booster/intro pack with a bad card.
2) Filling up limited with a bad card

In all truth, I'd rather have a 3/4 than a 4/3.

The reason for printing this makes sense: Black needs a common vanilla biggy, so here it is. In a draft, a Zombie Goliath may find itself to be more valuable than drawing a Rise from the Grave, depending on the situation.

You all have to keep in mind that the 4Black cost is very splashable, and creatures are highly necessary in Drafts. If you don't have creatures in a Draft, you are probably not going to do well.

Regardless, it is very unsatisfying when this gets Searing Spear'ed, and thus why I'd rather have a 3/4.

This guy is a pretty big creature. I am a pro so I will be giving him some play.

Side board for my underwhelming slug deck.

Why does this still exist? How about Renegade Demon? Although zombies are better, so maybe just add a point of power or two points of toughness to this and it won't be abysmal. Compare to Stone Golem, even colorless gets better than this.

Strictly more giant than Dreg Reaver.

This card loses roughly 0.1 star with each reprint so, in a few years, Gatherer will have to allows ratings under 0.5 star. Please, R&D, do something before that happens.

The "room for passengers" thing makes a lot more sense when you consider that Grave Titan is literally dropping zombies from his gut in the art.

Although, the titan's not actually a zombie, bizarrely.

Also, lowest rated vanilla ever.

A little overcosted for what it is, but it's not a Bog Hoodlums-like disaster that deserves to be sub-1 star. 1.5/5.

Based on the M12 and M13 flavor text, it could have had
- Haste ( a slight increase in mobility )
- Intimidate or Fear ( a response of revulsion and horror from the enemy )
- "When Zombie Goliath dies, put a 2/2 zombie token onto the battlefield." ( room for passengers )

But nope... vanilla 4/3 for 5.

In all fairness, this has one of my favorite flavor texts ever.

The last vanilla creature alphabetically.
