If it was one blue mana for its ability, it would be gigadrous on legs. In which case, it would be so much more powerful.
It still is pretty good lockdown, but not much in that regard

worked for me at the prerelease. i was never really unhappy to draw it. but in a deck alongside Somberwald Sage and Otherworld Atlas, it never felt like a crucial combo piece, just an additional one with some small uses. with rares i am looking for explosiveness, and this lacks in that department. 3.5/5

Rishadon Midnight Guard. That's reasonable. This card is ridiculously powerful.

Time to be that guy. This would be pretty great with Training Grounds.
Still, one blue + one colorless is pretty heavy for that...

Good to run in a Mono - Human Deck.

seems like a decent card. good way to save a chr from sunblast. It seems underrated, given that you can perma lock a card during a opponents up keep. It's also a 2/3 for 3 mana. That's pretty solid blocker also! this card is probably best in draft. but I could see it being very good vs many decks. What if; someone builds a deck based on "loner" ability, u can tap their 1 chr, and prevent them from attacking. I'd say a solid 3.5, to 4 star card imo.

This card can be abused a bit by flickering humans.

the only thing I didn't like about this card is the extra colorless mana needed to activate its ability. it should be likeniblis of the breath plus its human etb trigger.

Okay, this isn't exactly world-changing material, but it just hit me that the good Captain can tap other players' lands--something very few cards can do in Standard any more. I propose the following, for fun:
This would allow you to repeatedly lock down lands (or creatures) for 1WB, and you'd never lose your Cloudshift.

@TzarChasm You'd actually need two Cloudshifts, as Cloudshifting an Archaeomancer won't allow you to return the casted Cloudshift to your hand as it hasn't finished resolving yet.

@skoh-fley: No, actually that's wrong. Because triggers can't go on the stack in the middle of the resolution of a spell or ability, cloudshift would be a perfectly valid target for archeomancer.

Training Grounds. It's the new Doubling Season.
