Considering pro-black and pro-red are the most prevalent forms of protection, it could be useful I guess. Still, not really very useful outside of a specific sort of casual play group.

Right now, Everlasting Torment is more powerful, a little more expensive, but double-edged. Ghostflame Sliver is a take from this card.

Could be more useful with the upcoming Rise of the Eldrazi.

Color hate was way more powerful and popular back in the day, so accordingly this would be more useful.

Too bad it won't let black and red spells target Emrakul.

This was staple anti COP:Red card.

But Progenitus also has Protection from Ghostly Flame! And from everything with the Ice Age expansion symbol!

From the rulings:

"The damage itself thinks it came from a colorless source, however."

Yet even more proof that Magic cards/abilities are sentient.

Everlasting Torment will generally treat you better, especially if you have any kind of first strike effects. It's easier to cast, turns your burn into wither damage, and stuff.

Me:So your dude is pro red and pro black?
Opponent: Yep! You can't touch this! (Does the Hammer Time thing)
Me: (Casts Ghostly Flame)
Me: I can tell from the look on your face that I just ruined your day. Whoop there it is, whoop there it is...
