Weird u/r aggro deck maybe, since blue has no bear-like creatures.

Ah, the good old days of magic when you'd spend 4 bucks on a booster pack to get utter garbage in your rare slot. It's no wonder card shops have an overabundance of old boosters lying around.

I remember buying a booster and getting this as a kid. For weeks I was convinced I wasn't "getting" something about the card, because it seemed so bad, and I couldn't understand why it was a rare. I didn't have much money, so I tried to build decks that included as many of my cards as I could, but I could never fathom including this one. Eventually I forgot about it entirely. Now, years later, coming back to Magic, I am angry and disappointed.

Against a non-red deck, pacify this guy, Donate and then play Painter's Servant turning everything red, if you hadn't already. Then they can't cast anything :o

The biggest problem with the Leeches was that you wouldn't even get a considerably big body at the cost, but just a little advantage - that comes with a huge drawback. Jade Leech was the only somewhat interesting exception here, but was made uninteresting again by the fact that it requires two green mana to cast - which is why Andradite Leech is ridiculous as well since its pump ability is highly conflicting with the drawback. And the cheap little white, blue and red ones are all jokes.
These could have come with one more power and toughness to be interesting. All of them. Then they'd actually become pretty choices for splashing colors.
But like that it's a lot easier to just run a monored deck and play something like Blood Knight instead.

This isn't a terrible card. But there are much better 2 drops.

This is one of the worst rares I have ever seen. Even Sorrow's Path can be an asset to an en-Kor deck.
Beautifully grotesque art, though.

Bazaar Trader + Painter's Servant + Ruby Leech, if your opponent isn't playing than you just got them on lockdown. (If they are, substitute another leech.)
It's a three card combo yes, but each card only costs 2 mana, and it is mono-color. Plus you get the honor of defeating your opponent with ruby leech.
Without donating it though, the whole leech series are notable for how blandly bad they are. They aren't even build-arounds like Leveler or Sky Swallower, they are just utterly bad. Believe me, I have tried. The 2013 commanders could get better effects with the additional cost. That's as close to a combo as I have.

Aside from control-changing spells like Donate or Confusion in the Ranks, and color-changing cards like Painter's Servant, Alter Reality or Mind Bend this won't get really interesting even if you build around those Leeches.

Edit: Okay it is a terrible card.
