Why "open the vault" when you have "Replenish"

This is a really interesting card, but it's also really weird.

I get the flavour, the idea is that the crazy, passionate, imuplsive red mage is just leaping headfirst into research in blue and white magic and there are obvious risks in doing that.

But there are few cards that do /nothing/ in a mono colour deck of their colour.

What do instants and enchantments have in common? Both is "play your opponent's deck" territory, with cards like Swerve, Reroute, Confiscate, Persuasion.. Anyway, a very strong card in the late-game that can search for pretty effective situational cards and even "fake" sorceries like Return To Dust! :)

Just remember that we're not in "graveyard matters" colors.. Edit: Nevertheless, there's Life Burst, Flame Burst, Aether Burst! :) Also, there are flashback cards, including Think Twice, and there's Accumulated Knowledge..

Run with Library of Leng and this suddenly becomes a very powerful tutor-engine. Add something that allows you to draw at instant speed and you're guaranteed to get the card your need. And while you're running library of leng, Gamble becomes a feasible tutor for anything.

Also, this could probably be used with madness cards to some degree. When you're out of cards, fetch a Fiery Temper and cast it through madness.

Bo Levar is creeping in the background.

It doesn't work with Library of Leng. First you search for the card, then you discard a card at random, at which time Library would have you put the card on top of your deck. Then you shuffle. The card would end up back in your deck. I think, in EDH at least, I'd rather send the enchantments to my graveyard anyway.

I was going to say that Commodore Guff needs to have his own card (and so does Bo Levar) but in order to get the flavor right he'd have to do something really crazy like changing a card's rarity or reversing turn order.

The look on guys face says it all. You ever played Russian Roulette? Me either. This card is the gateway drug with even a half decent hand.

EDH Zedruu.

The colors match perfectly.
Many cards that work well with zedruu are enchantments (like illusions of grandeur, or things like arrest which don't really care who controls them).
You're blue so you are also probably running a bunch of instant card draw/counters/etc.

The random discard sucks, but the mana cost for repeated tutors is cheap.

This is stupid with Library of Leng. I have a buddy who has a Zedruu, the Great-Hearted EDH, and those 2 cards. This card on its own prolonged a game for 3 hours.

EDIT: I just realized the folly of that. Even if he were to discard the tutored card to the top of his library, he'd still have to shuffle directly afterward. However, if he has to discard the tutored card, he could discard it to his library and try again.

Library of Leng is still fine with this. The random discard is shuffled in, but you've got a repeatable tutor effect right there on the board to find it again when you need it. Gives the card a lot more use when you're down to one card: You can keep trying to keep the card you need, if you've got the mana. (Or if, y'know, you're doing it at the end of your opponent's turn)

Lol. Theros Enchantment Creatures. In RWU EDH, tap 1W and tutor target God.
